Following the devastation of Covid, Helvellyn Country Kitchen (HCK) ran like clockwork. As the weather was threatening to do it's worst, we decided to eat indoors. How odd this felt after such a long absence. We timed lunch just right. The indoor area soon filled up after we sat down. Our order was taken quickly and just as quick, our drinks arrived. The kids meals were ideal for two fussy grandchildren. We decided on a light lunch, (HCK) had a diverse choice. We were all pleased with our lunches. The bill was as expected. Read moreReally expensive unfriendly staff you'd be better off over the road absolute opposite to this place
I did eat the day before and it was mind blowing expensive for the amount of food 2 starters 2 mains and 2 beers
Furthermore when I asked if breakfast was still being severed at 1140 I was told breakfast is finished when I asked what time it finished i got told I told you already it's finished and had to ask a third time to get a time
Doubling down on your terrible attitude asking why I came back just shows how poor the service was. I have no problem with the quality of your food just the cost and take it or leave it attitude for a cafe not a restaurant
Thanks for the snotty reply to my original post please take this as constructive criticism not a personal attack that you...

When I returned to the queue it was so long and I figured as I've already queue once I would be able to ask when the other coffee was brought to the table if I could bypass the queue. It was very much a "computer said no moment" use a common sense approach. If somebody has queued and paid for food that they are sat there waiting for then it would make sense to get a coffee for them and allow them to bypass the queue in order to pay, so that they can sit and relax with their...
