Fore street is a very cute cafe, the atmosphere is cute and cosy. The cafe is on the expensive side.
My partner had the ‘healthy’ breakfast which was avocado on toast. You have to pay extra for salmon and poached eggs so I think the total for the meal was £17 which is very expensive considering it was bland and I even had to ask for chilli flakes. They also covered the plate in salad, which was over the top.
I had the shakshuka, which was very nice - however I’m not going to give massive credit to them as I would be worried if someone messed up chickpeas, onions and tinned tomatoes. This also came without poached eggs (my mistake for not reading the menu properly, but as shakshuka comes with eggs I didn’t think I would have to pay £1.50 PER EGG).
I had the elderflower lemonade which was nice, but £4.50 wow. The carrot cake is really lovely, and all the cakes were vegan too. The cinnamon roll isn’t my favourite, but I think that’s because it’s more sponge like and I prefer a pastry.
It’s nice, but personally not...
Read moreExcellent new cafe in town, just opened and run by a great local guy. Lovely relaxing atmosphere inside with un-rushed service from the staff. At the moment primarily a breakfast/lunch or brunch venue, he is planning to open evenings also. The food was excellent - home made mackeral pate on sourdough toast with a poached egg on top served with a gherkin for me, and a "dirty" breakfast for the wife - sausage, bacon, fried egg, cheesy chips and coleslaw and a gherkin also. Both washed down with an excellent tea and coffee. Other offerings include natural soft drinks with no additives, and vegan locally made cakes that looked delicious, but we didn't have room for! Should also say that all the food is locally sourced. Check him out on Facebook at 4streetcafebar or @forestreetcafe...
Read moreA short drive to Newquay from where I'm staying and I took a stop to try this cafe out, don't be deceived by the curb appeal. Situated opposite the harbour and with adjacent carpark I have just eaten the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The Ciabatta roll was crusty, warm and like a nice brioche and inside oozing egg, crisp'd perfect bacon, sausage, herbs, ketchup all top quality and washed down with a good flat white.
The service was attentive and chilled, absolutely worth a visit and sit upstairs so your away from all the noise but can take in the distant chatter and music vibes as you plan your day, well mine..
There is a little TLC needed to appear a bit fresher, but then it kinda fits the vibe, for me chilled back lazy luxury...
