Just had a bad experience at Frankie and Benny’s in Rochester - I took my sons there for lunch and we had booth seating in front of the open kitchen. The moment I sat down I felt something sharp scratched my leg then I put my hand under my seat to check and realised it was actually a knife tucked under the seat. The waiter and the manager came, they removed the knife and apologised. But my son was extremely upset, he couldn't understand why people would do things like this to hurt people. Luckly I've only got a scratch. My 11 years old son asked the manager if the camera above our seat is operating? The manager replied yes, he said he will look into it only to brush my son off (My contact details was not taken) The manager didn't bother to come over once to check on us or offer us anything to better our experience at the restaurant. Not a penny was deducted from our bill (except for the government help eating out scheme) Me and my sons will not be returning to Rochester brunch and please look under your seats for sharp objects when you visit. My husband was angry on how we were treated. He went to the restaurant and complained to the manager (Peter Swist) then he offered my husband to filled in the incident form for me and a paper discount card 50% off for our next visit. No thanks, I will certainly not visit again with my sons even is for free.

What an earth happened to Frankie and Benny's. Someone has ripped the soul out of this once characterful restaurant. Gone are the booths, the old style black and white photos of stars from yesteryear. The themed music which gave it extra ambience. It's drab, tired and has no atmosphere. Food wise, we had an offer for a classic burger or hot dog for £5 which given their prices is pretty reasonable. No fries with that though so we got some. They were truly the worst fries ever, cheap and nasty with a powdery texture. I left three quarters of mine. I didn't complain because our waitress was a nice young lady who was doing her best. They had an offer of 2 for 1 on cocktails and cocktails between 5&7 so we took advantage of that and both were nice. Given the food we received,I certainly would not have wanted to pay £15 for hot dog and fries. They are charging way too much for poor quality food made from cheap ingredients. I understand the chain was sold at some point to the group that own Bella Italia, well whoever they are they need to have a long hard look at this chain and do something to bring it back to how it once was. I for one will not be returning.

We were really disappointed coming here. Haven't been for many years and used to really enjoy it but the food (as my husband put it) is now like "theme park food" rather than restaurant quality. I had a Halloumi wrap and there was genuinely one little rectangle of Halloumi cut into 4 and split between the two halves of the wrap. I ended up with one or 2 mouthfuls of cheese and the rest was just salad. My Husband's grilled chicken burger was a piece of Lettuce, dry chicken and mayo. It seemed zero effort was put in. The kids meals actually looked far better quality than the adults.

It would have been no stars if it could. We had a table of six and a high chair. First we got told there would be a 5 to 15 minute wait a lady kept coming over to us and saying we're just cleaning this table and then we will eat you 10 minutes after she said that they finally clear the table we then sat down and had another half an hour wait for a waiter to come over to order even though we had already asked to order. We ordered starters with the waiter lounging across the back of the boat obviously not wanting to be here because of the attitude and one of our group asked if he could have beans instead of tomatoes and stated that he would like the peppercorn sauce. The starters came out everything was ok. Then the mains come out first of all there was a medium length black curly hair woven into my fries so obviously I sent them back when it come out the second time I picked up one of my onion rings put it straight in my mouth and it came straight back out it tasted like it been dipped in the bottom of the oil tray it was an edible and absolutely disgusting the oil coming off of it was horrendous the waitress come over and asked if it was ok and I said no I can't eat this this is disgusting and showed her the amount of oil and Grease that was dripping from this plate it completely put me off my food I told her I don't want this can you please take it away she was very rude about the whole situation I even said to her I can eat anything but I cannot eat this. Another member of our group asked to different waiters for his peppercorn sauce which didn't arrive as well as his beans he finally got the beans on the second ask but by the third asked for his peppercorn sauce the woman rolled her eyes and finally went and got it. The last member of our group had steak which was all fat apart from 2 bytes the amount of gristle was ridiculous the steak was near enough unedible. we went out for my sister's birthday and it really put a downer on the end of our night we went to in at 7:45 and left at 10:20 only eating starters and main. The amount of time we waited for staff while they were talking and laughing and just plain ignoring us was ridiculous the price they wanted to charge us for the inedible food was outrageous we have been to Frankie and Benny's before but this is the first time we used this one and it is completely put me off Frankie and Benny's for life. I have never been so disgusted by a plate of food in my entire life. And the only apology I got was for the hair in my food. Don't waste your time and money there are alot better places around go any where but here...

Frankie and Bennys of Rochester = Poor. The food we ordered was ready and on our table within 5 mins of ordering. Some might say this is good, but believe me, the resulting plates of food were shocking. The kids mini steak was extremely mini - small and very flat, more like a tiny slither of roast beef. The accompanying veg was 1 stem of hard, barely cooked broccoli. The adults New York BBQ chicken was awful. Dry, tasteless, rubbery chicken served with the tiniest corn on the cob and just a handful of chips so small that I thought it had come off the child's menu. The accompanying x2 small onion rings were not cooked properly and were soggy. This dish was £15.99! I was disgusted at the standard given the price. The crispy chicken burger was ok to be fair, but the lettuce in the bun was brown and limp. Again, the chips supplied would have suited the child's menu and the whole dish was certainly not worth the money charged. I appreciate that restaurants are making cut backs due to cost of ingredients, but every plate of food we had was small, dry, uncooked and frankly, Frankie, a huge disappointment. We spent £50 on substandard food, leaving us wishing we had just gone to Macdonalds for something tastier and half the price. We will not be returning to Frankie and Bennys in the future. Overall, an...
