We had some pasties, chips and a pizza between our family. The pasties were ready straight away as were in the hot counter but it took over 20 minutes for them to make 3 chips and a margarita pizza. In the time it took waiting for the chips and pizza one of our party ate their pasty, went to the toilets then went to BeachBox ordered and collected some food and then came back to the Galleon where we were still waiting. The woman serving today was friendly but the food was painfully slow... It's a shame as we used to always go to the Galleon but it's gone downhill. Also not very accommodating for allergies/food intolerances
Update 17/6 following response from owner. Thank you for your response however during the time we were waiting only 1 other person came in to order food so it was not busy at all. Also whilst I appreciate the pasties being made in advance (which I didn't actually have an issue with as I know this happens) to say they need to be done this way is incorrect. As I stated in my original post when we went to BeachBox they got a gluten free pasty from their fridge unit and cooked it whilst we waited (all done in around 10 mins). I understand that fresh food takes longer but compared to other eateries in Polzeath the Galleon has been the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA five year old could make a better 'experiment' playing chef pizza than these bunch of adolescents who seem to be running this place, who were also rude. The pizza are super tiny going for around thirteen pounds for a very basic margarita. The margarita had say four slices of mozzarella barely melted with a few slices of tomato on top. The top was hardly cooked and the bottom was black, literally charcoal. No flavours, ie olive oil, salt or oregano etc. I dont recall any pasta sauce on it either. My husband asked for chopped mushrooms on mine, I got only a sprinkling and was charged something like an extra one pound fifty or something ridiculous like that. For three tiny tasteless pizza, that were no more substantial than a couple of crackers with cheese, we ended up paying over forty quid and that was take out. I could have gone to a restaurant for the same prices. Do...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the first time Iāve eaten a pizza and felt sad about eating a pizza. The only way to describe the pizza base is āa crackerā not as in a good time cracker, as in a cracker youād put cheese on. It was slimmer than a piece of paper and as stiff as a thin slice of wood. And then there was the taste, Iāve come home now and itās been around 2 hours since Iāve eaten and I still havenāt had a brain receptor tell me that food has entered me. It was so tasteless it was almost impressive. What a rip off, it was expensive and I could have licked the sand and had the same outcome. To be fair it was quick and the staff were nice but Christ it was a bad pizza....
