Came here today for what I thought would be a nice family meal, instead was chased away and actually told to leve by a rude and angry owner. Upon arriving it already seemed that with a 2 year old we wernt welcome and even though tables were free even after we left they seated us next to the pool table and toilets on the other side of the pub. Not much interaction from the man in question until my infant daughter decided to walk over to the restaurant area (with me closely followed behind) and shouted at me and my daughter to ‘someone keep that kid under control!’. I am not a parent who would keep my child in a high chair against her will or to beat her (as i can only imagine happened to him as a child)I did ask the man if he would like to help me control her since she is only two and this is what toddlers do, they toddle around hence the name. Also seemed he had much knowledge on parenting. But instead he just shouted at me more and said it was my job not his, it is not a job looking after my child is something I do out of love and put her thoughts, feelings and safety above all so taking this into account I will be advising all people with children to stay well clear, why let them enter into such a hateful and discriminatory environment. To the owner I would like to say it is a shame you forgot I was still a customer instead of trying to just cater to your elderly customers, while your customers dwindle as they get older you are neglecting new younger clientele. it is this small minded village mentality that gives...

THOMAS' CHAPEL ON THE GREEN, ONE BEING THE GEORGE INN. THE DEAN'S TOPOGRAPHICAL NOTE, ON THE RECTOR OF THE GREENS, GLEBE LANDS DESCRIBES THIS BUILDING AS THE RECTORS HOSPICE, IN THE COURT ROLLS FOR THE YEARS 1459-60, RICHARD COOT AND JOHN OSTELER, OF THE GEORGE INN SHERBORNE WERE FINED 1/4d EACH FOR SELLING HAY AND OATS AT AN EXTORTIONATE PRICE. THE DWELLING PLACE OF AVISA-HEROINE IN A POEM, ATTRIBUTED TO SIR WALTER RALEIGH WRITTEN IN 1593, "WILLOBIE HAS AVISTA" IS CLEARLY INDICATED AS THE GEORGE INN SHERBORNE, "WHERE HANGS THE BADGE OF ENGLAND'S SAINT" ON SUNDAY 26TH JULY 1616, THE MAIN PARTY THAT WAS CONDUCTING SIR WALTER RALEIGH AS PRISONER FROM PLYMOUTH TO LONDON STOPPED FOR THE NIGHT IN SHERBORNE AT THE SIGN...
Read moreNot very friendly service, we came in at the weekend, quite a large group, and the person serving at the bar was decidedly unwelcoming. Perhaps it was our timing as he was going to eat, but he could not have made us feel more unwanted. Someone else came to serve us, which the first person could have called and explained to us they would hand over service rather than serving us begrudgingly. Observing guidelines we did not sit more than 6 to a table, but he made some terse remark about it. And talking of guidelines, our details were not taken for track and trace and no staff were...
