Went to the pub yesterday wanting to have a nice lunch with my sisters. Eaten here before and the food was great. However yesterday it was terrible. We ordered fish and chips, two baguettes and chips and 3 drinks. The fish came out dripping in oil and the fish inside was non existent - I would not feed this to my dog. Baguettes came out as sandwiches and then when we got the baguettes they weren’t even cooked. The drinks come out as large, we didn’t ask for large drinks and got billed for them. Sorry to say but the waitress/barmaid was so nervous and looked scared when taking our order? Didn’t offer any condiments or ask how our meal was. Fair to them they didn’t charge us for the meal, however this totally ruined our day, such a shame. The excuse we got is the chef must be having an off day, you’re a business you can’t afford for the chef to...
Read moreExcellent food in a charming, olde worlde pub! My wife and I were stopping in Sherborne just for the night, en route farther into the West Country. We stayed in a historic (1500s) B&B and then went in search of dinner. The White Hart was great. I wanted Irish coffee afterwards, but she said she didn't have cream, so brought me the closest: a large cup with brandy (I could have had whisky) in the bottom and a carafe of coffee - not exactly what I wanted but it served its purpose. If I had to make a complaint, the service was a bit slow, but we were in no hurry. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. I definitely...
Read moreWonderful place to go! My husband and I moved to sherborne earlier this year and this is one of our faveourite places to go to. The atmosphere is great every time, the food is super yummy and very reasonably priced. They have some great live bands on every Saturday night and we recently learned that they have live music on Wednesdays too from single musicians to open mic, which is great for my stepson who is keen to become more confidante with his band mates so the open mic is a great place to start. Being in the industry, I can see that the whole team at The White Hart works extremely well together and they’re always so polite and friendly even when it’s 4 deep at the bar on a Friday and Saturday and they’ll happily have a chat and a laugh with you when it’s not so busy. Super pub to go to and would...
