G&P Tarporley
After leaving a sour taste I decided to have a read of the poor reviews and not to my surprise they were of a similar experience.
After summarising I would say location and settings is what really encourages you to give them your custom, although after receiving my order of their “full English” I was somewhat disappointed given the price attached and the “succulent style description” that drags you in.
The portion I would say is borderline for a child, the sausage seemed like a generic Richmond off the shelf from CO-OP over the road ( supreme thick pork sausage ) The small plate it arrives on is covered in bread/toast which is nice but not much food to go with it. (Similar reviews)
Positives -
My partners ‘Salmon on Rye’ looked appetising - but again a bread driven dish I’d say.
Customer service was okay.
Food arrived quickly.
It was sunny.
I can’t speak for other dishes as I didn’t see them but I've been in enough establishments to know when a business is watching the margins and considering the cost of living now I thought what was presented to me personally was borderline offensive.
£11.50 ( 1 sausage, 2 rashers, 1 fried egg, beans & mushroom £2.50 extra for black pudding +egg
Now I know the high price small portion premium trick, but this wasn’t it.

Read moreWhere do you even begin to describe the unpleasantness of the experience? Having been to a Ginger and Pickels before and having had a bad experience, I wanted to give this one a try. Having been a lovely place to have breakfast when it was the Chestnut cafe some time ago, when entering the premises you are hit by atrocious wallpaper and ugly pink frames. Ok, you could say that this is just personal taste. But what isn´t, is the lack of customer service, having to ask for a menu, wanting afternoon tea and being met with an incredulous stare. We went for the cream tea, which was generic but ok. I feel deeply annoyed by the lack of customer service and understanding their needs, by the state of their toilet and the general lack of appreciation of a fine old building in terms of decor. Just an awful experience that doesn´t come cheap either. We will...
Read moreA little disappointing for what we expected but it was still ok food. Has a modern look to it but came in here for brunch and the menu was a little old school as we were gutted to see no poached eggs on there, no avocado or anything adventures. The coffee menu said it was speciality but please don’t expect speciality coffee my flat white seemed it was in a soup bowl it was so big, that big that I can’t really comment of the flavour of the espresso.
Other than that lovely friendly staff and if you like a Tradition English breakfast it’s worth a visit. With a little bit of guidance this place could be onto a winner!
P.S. Fingers crossed they put the heating on for winter it was...
