The Coast Tarporley — Restaurant in England

Extremely disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, the service felt rushed and careless. We were first seated at a sticky table before being moved — thankfully — to a sofa table. Unfortunately, things only went downhill from there.

The staff seemed stressed and frantic, hurrying everyone along as if this were a fast-food outlet rather than a supposedly high-end restaurant. The waitress (possibly a manageress) displayed a shocking lack of professionalism: she handed me my plate and spoon directly into my hands instead of placing them on the table, then later asked me to pass her my empty plate rather than reaching for it herself — despite having full access to my side. It was rude, dismissive, and frankly insulting.

The food did not redeem the experience. The starter was forgettable, and my main — crab spaghetti — arrived cold and completely tasteless. To make matters worse, staff kept topping up our wine glasses every few minutes, clearly trying to rush us through the meal.

We've just got home after a lovely meal at The Coast. The staff were so friendly and attentive, they were there when we needed them and not intrusive when we didn't. We had the 18oz Bone in Rib-eye steak and the Roasted Halibut. Both dishes were cooked beautifully and very flavoursome. I had a dessert of Raspberry Semifreddo which was so light, it was divine!! We really liked the atmosphere, the decor is fresh and clean, lighting is just right- no-one likes trying to read a menu in low light! and facilities clean and tidy. Are they're any negatives? Well - no. Parking in Tarporley is tight and if you see a space, get it as you may struggle to get another. That's not the Restaurant's fault. We did have a good laugh with the staff as they don't serve 'mushy' peas! 😂😂 Overall, a very nice experience and one we will DEFINITELY be having again. Thanks...

First time in here and generally pleased. Atmosphere good but mid week so very quiet. Service excellent. Food OK. We all had a different pasta dish as it advertises as an Italian restaurant. None of them were particularly spectacular but we do intend to give it another go and try something that isn't pasta based. Couple of niggles. Print on menu very small so in the dimmed lighting it was difficult to read. Maybe younger folks don't have that problem 🙂 10% service charge added to bill. I hate this as though it is "optional" you have to be hard faced to ask for it to be removed and this can cause embarrassment if you are out with friends.
