From the moment we arrived we felt the service was slow and a little unprofessional. It was clearly busy in the outdoor area, but indoors was almost empty, with lots of seats. We were seated at a table next to one which was occupied by a young family, which seemed odd considering it was empty! Surely we could have been offered alternative seating in an empty restaurant?!. However we sat down then in transpired the table was really unstable and wobbly! so we asked to be moved. The young waitress offered us any of the empty tables. Thankfully our choice was way better as it was near an open door which was nice and cool as it was really warm in there, no AC? To cut a long story short, the service was woefully slow to the point where we had to go to the bar ourselves and ask for a drink as the waiting staff I think seemed to be concentrating on the diners outside! The barman himself then brought over the requested drink and said "it was on the house" as clearly someone should have been waiting our table. So that gesture was gratefully received. The meal itself (when it eventually arrived) was hot and very tasty, no qualms with that. A young waiter did come over shortly after we received the complimentary drink, whilst we were still eating, to ask whether things were OK. Which they were then, and left. Unfortunately that was the last we saw of any waiting staff attendance at our table! With our plates plates now long empty there was NO OFFER of the dessert menu or coffees, which I wouldn't have minded seeing, but going up to the bar again to ask was ridiculous, so we just decided to get the bill, pay and leave. Foolishly and in hindsight , our biggest regret is paying the service charge if there was one! We paid in haste and left. It was our wedding anniversary meal which I stated on the Open Table online booking, but there was no mention made of that by any of the staff (which has been our experience elsewhere) We enjoyed our meal but sadly the below par service tainted...
Read moreBeautiful location but the service was terrible. The service was incredibly slow, from start to finish. We had two young children. We waited 15 min to order and ended up calling someone over. The mains took 1 hour to come out. The kids asked for ketchup, the waitress forgot so we asked again and that look about 7 minutes to come out. 3 other tables around us had the same issue and complained. We saw one table waiting 25 minutes to place a drinks order, nobody realised they hadn’t been served. In the end we complained and they offered to remove the complimentary service charge. We said that wasn’t good enough so the manager eventually came over 10 minutes later not looking happy. He mumbled something about “I don’t know why you’re not happy but here’s 10% off” and put another receipt on the table and he walked off. We then waited 10 min to pay and ended up going to the till. We asked for the service charge to be removed and the manager got on a huff again saying they’d already made one discount they can’t make two. I pointed out the service charge wasn’t a discount. He didn’t say a word, he removed it passed over the receipt then walked off whilst someone else took the payment. Even though the service was slot the waiting staff were good when they were at the table. They just seemed understaffed with quite a few young staff that didn’t seem to fully know what they were doing. The manager was terrible. I didn’t catch his name but he was a middle aged European man. As we were leaving we saw him around the side of the restaurant having a smoke complaining to someone. Rather than helping his understaffed and young team he’d rather slack off and...
Read moreA special occasion family meal for three people turned out to be a very disappointing experience at Go Go restaurant. In our experience on this occasion The food was overpriced, No Risotto available, Pasta dish was poor quality, Soft drinks expensive (£6.00 for a small bottle of mixer) No coffee, I have never been in a restaurant that ran out of coffee! Restaurant temperature was cold (I believe the gas bottle heater ran out causing an uncomfortable temperature drop, and no apology from staff). Limited availability on their dessert menu. I appreciate this establishment is not high end dining, but it is borderline pretentious. In my experience a service charge is optional, but this establishment added it automatically to the bill at 10% without asking. Tipping is discretionary, NOT a given. As tipping is not compulsory it was asked to be removed on this occasion, unfortunately the male member of staff at the till (with a top knot, he did not offer his name). Appeared to take umbridge at this instruction, whereupon he thought it appropriate for him to take it upon himself to challenge the request for the service charge be removed. Furthermore his attitude following this instruction then changed from friendly to being off hand, arrogant, and unfriendly resulting in a negative atmosphere. Neither he nor any member of staff thanked us for our custom, even though we spent over £94 on a what was a simple luncheon for three people. That comprised of only three simple main courses and two drinks each (No starter, No desserts). Unfortunately this was a cold, lacklustre, very...
