I try to be constructive with my reviews and I'm sorry to say this will not be a great one. We went on a Monday evening at approx 7.15pm. First job on entering the premises is to register your car Registration on an iPad type device - this looked like it had not been wiped in days, with finger smears covering it. We hadn't booked to eat and were told there was no room in the restaurant but we could have a table in the bar area. The staff member who greeted us looked hassled and handed us 2 menus - first impressions are everything so the fact they were sticky did not go down well. We were told to order food over the bar with no mention of whether we could still access the salad bar. We discovered we could so went up to the restaurant level. The handrails leading up there were also sticky. There was a staff member serving the salad bar and I think this is an excellent idea in the current Conditions (tail end of COVID) It would be good to see this continue indefinitely. I was not so impressed to see 75% of the upstairs seating empty after being told there was no room in the restaurant? We had just returned to our bar table when our starters arrived so the salads got put to one side. Only a quarter of the way into my starter and the main courses arrived! They were served to the table despite us not being ready for them and left getting cold. I gave up on my starter, scooped it on to the plate with the food from the main course and tucked in. I tried to ignore the fact that the peas were more yellow than green, that the beans were stringy, that despite the food arriving so quickly the chips were only just about warm. Nobody asked if the food was OK, or came to check how everything was. I gave up and left most of my meal. One of the female staff that we passed as we stood to leave had clearly been on a cigarette break and reeked of stale smoke. Not great in a food setting. I have realistic expectations and have used Harvesters lots in the past. I was not expecting a 5 star experience - I wanted a reasonably priced enjoyable meal. Instead I couldn't wait to go home and wash my hands. Sorry Windsor Lad but we...
Read moreHad a party of 7 on Christmas day for dinner booked at 2pm, we have gone out every Christmas day for the last few years & to be honest, they have been disasters. We booked for the windsor lad harvester this time as our local Bracknell restaurants were fully booked for the time slots we wanted. This was our last year we were going to do it as past few had put us off. Must say, so glad we booked here, despite the distance away, the restaurant was cosy, atmosphere was great & staff were excellent. There was no rush to get you to leave, in fact at one point, the server asked us if we wanted our deserts yet or did we want to wait ½ hour to let our food go down abit more. All the the meals were amazing, looked great & tasted even better, great value for money. I must say, my steak & ribs combo was cooked to perfection, I'd also say that the steak I had was definitely the best steak I had ever had, the tenderness & flavour was simply amazing, massive well done to the chefs. Definitely would like to mention our server Josh, he was so professional throughout, he couldn't do enough for us, even though he was flat out run off his feet, he managed remarkably & smiled throughout. He is a real credit to your team & definitely should be recognised for his quality. Will definitely go there again, well done & thank you all for giving us a truly great...
Read more0lacement of drive in to the customer car park is directly next to the Windsor race course turn in so it's easy to get confused. Parking was easy otherwise though. Arrive inside and was greeted by our seater who was wonderful and easy to talk to. She understood that we needed some adult and some child menus and sat us at the top floor. Alice was our waitress and was wonderful. Our drinks were ordered easily and everything was accounted for. Next was our mains which consisted of the bbq chicken stack which was amazing though the chicken was a little dry and goujons a little overdone and well presented. Next up was the gammon and egg combo which had a side of chips and onion rings. It was filling and delicious. My father said there was no complaints. My brother had the kids pizza and chips which wasn't filling but I allowed to share with my chips from the classic single beef burger. Which was amazing and filling. My smallest brother had green veg and mash, he didn't eat the mash as he was picky so my mother ate it instead. Overall the food was amazing and service fast. For dessert we had an ice cream sundae and a treacle cake with custard which was piping hot. Both dishes were delicious though. Amazing would come again 10/10 .price was decent for the amount of food we ordered coming in at £74.58 for drinks dinners...
