Used to be really good, but has really slipped down in quality. Issues I have come across:
Ordered Falafel balls for starters, they came out frozen in the middle. Sent them back and got some replacements. They too were frozen in the middle. Got money back.
Ordered a Full English for breakfast, came with a tiny pot of beans.
Ordered Eggs Benedict, the "Honey Roast Ham" was out of a packet and cold. The hollandaise sauce was cold and there was hardly any of it. I asked for a bit more and it came out cold and had blatantly been squeezed out of a bottle. This whole order took 30 minutes. So effectively it had taken their "chefs" 30 minutes to toast three muffins, put some ham on out of a packet, and squeeze some hollandaise sauce on.
Ordered a Chilli-dog and the hot-dog was cold.
Ordered a burger with blue cheese on it, it came with literally a slab of blue cheese on it. There was no attempt at trying to melt it and had blatantly just come out of the fridge.
The old hash-browns were like door wedges and fried in huge amounts of Oil.
My partner has ordered toast several times and it has come out cold with rock hard butter.
My partner has ordered a "fish finger sandwich on thick granary bread", only for it to arrive late, cold, and on thinly-sliced white bread.
The staffs attitude comes across like they do not care.
The front door has been broken for about 6 months now.
Loads of cobwebs all over the place.
The only way that this cafe is still surviving is purely down to the fact that there are very few alternatives and it sits in a prime location.
This is the problem when somewhere...
Read moreDécor is good and the outside (when sunny) is adequate. I do not understand the relevance of a slide if you're not going to be diligent about having a functioning gated area for children. You have aimed this business, I believe, to include Mother's with their children, however, there is a dangerous car park adjacent and this needs to be looked into further. Mother's are indeed responsible for their offspring but it would be wiser to have a gate which closed. Also, when you first opened you had the insight to offer crayons and photocopied Disney figures for young children. You have since abandoned this brilliant idea, why? There are a lot of mother's in the area with decent disposable incomes who probably go elsewhere. The Methuen, whilst more expensive always delivers a decent plate of food. Your staff are young and clearly inexperienced and your chef needs to regain his/her passion for food. My food was prompt but my salad had seen better days. Wilted salad leaves should never, ever leave the kitchen. Your piri piri prawns were swamped with chilli sauce and would have been too much for most people to swallow, but I did manage to finish them. The other dish tasted unpleasant and so I deigned to send it back. I was met with indifference, offered something else from the menu but I asked for my money back. The only thing I could recommend would be the cappuccino. You are clearly venturing down that road that so many other eating establishments do - never to be seen again. I suggest you haul your kitchen and front of house staff in for some further training in order to make this a pleasant and not an...
Read moreMy last review was last December, but wanted to re-review to say how much better it is than almost a year ago.. Had a lovely vegan breakfast there today and it is absolutely value for money, well cooked, tasty and hot. It was lovely and warm in there today (and has been on my last 2 visits) which is much more welcoming than the freezing cold state it was in last autumn/winter- hope it stays this way?
The only slight negative- the lovely lady that works there on her own foh, really could do with a hand on occasions. Rememberance Sunday morning was bound to be busy.. there was at least 30 customers in there, She did an amazing job on her own but service, im sure, will suffer at times. Looking forward to my next brekkie visit.
Visited yesterday (23rd December) potentially the worst experience coming in here. The place was absolutely freezing with no heating on at all. Having queried it, I was told it is too expensive to run. Really not welcoming at all. The poor girls that work there were freezing also. Your staff shouldn't be working in these conditions whilst doing their best. Coffee stone cold within a few minutes. Staff were shouted at by what I guess was the manager as well. How embarrassing. Such a shame because Fishponds and Keynsham are...
