Mother & Wild — Restaurant in England

This is review in regards to a pickup order on Saturday 27th Sept. I came in to collect a pickup order for myself. I went to the till, and said my name and that I was there to pickup my order. The guy serving said it’ll be 15 minutes to wait. He then asked if I wanted a drink whilst I waited. I’ve never had that before when picking up orders in other restaurants. I thought how nice, and asked for a water. For context, I’d had a crazy busy day, and was so focussed on getting lots of things done, that I forgot to drink any water that day. It was only when I was sat down on the bench in the restaurant at 8:40pm that I realised this. I asked for another water refill, and on my third refill, I admitted this. The guy serving was really lovely and kept filling up my glass with tap water, even when it was a busy Saturday evening. He didn’t make fun of me, and kept refilling without making me feel stupid, and was really nice to me. I have ADHD so this sort of thing can happen where I’m so busy I forget to drink water. I hate it when people try and make fun of me about things like this, because it is a symptom of serious executive dysfunction. It makes me feel stupid and ‘not normal’. But this guy didn’t make me feel foolish at all. He made me feel like a valued customer. I’ve been to this restaurant in the day, but it looks twinkly and lovely at night, very nice atmosphere with warm soft lighting and fairy lights. An energetic yet relaxing vibe. The food was great, lovely pizza, polenta chips and the salad with the Parmesan and fennel crumb. The salad was particularly great. I usually am not a fan of fennel, but this salad had just the right amount to complement the whole dish...

Update 2nd August 2024. Came here as everything has always been fantastic. Feels a bit like the B team on today.

Staff seem to be more interested in having a laugh than taking care of customers. Errors and omissions to orders... To the fact where there was no point in mentioning something had been forgotten as by the time it would have been ready we would have finished our meal!.

Don't know... Makes me feel a bit cautious about coming back in the future. Especially as we are sitting here being ignored quite well as I type this... Hmmm.

Update: Returned for a bit of a holiday feast, and was not disappointed. Food, service and atmosphere of this fabulous restaurant have probably become even better, since our last visit. Nice to see the place full and buzzing with dozens of conversations.

Food was, as previously, delicious. Staff were friendly, helpful and there if you needed something. I would book in advance as it seems to be very popular.

Original: Had a fantastic lunch here today, after a brief trip to Corsham. Sat inside, bit too hot for me, but there is a lovely outside area as well.

Decided to go for pizzas. I went for the four cheese option, while the husband went for hot smoked salmon.

Both were absolutely delicious, and very filling. Decided to add some polenta chips, and although we didn't finish them, ran out of room, they were amazing.

Really disappointed. I have ordered takeaway online twice from here in the last couple of weeks, and had exactly the same poor service on both occasions. The first time it happened I just let it go as these things happen from time to time, but not two times in a row, I wonder if this is the standard for there takeout service? I made my order online and specified a particular time, then when I’ve turned up to collect it, they clearly haven’t started my order and get told it’ll be 10-15 minutes- cool, no worries, I’ll come back. Turn up again, sorry it’s going to be another 10-15 minutes. On both occasions it was nearly 40 minutes after the pick up time, not very convenient if you and timing it with other pick ups. Felt like my order was just completely ignored on both occasions, and rather than acknowledging the delay as an error, last night my we were told it was due to them cooking the pizza from fresh. Of course we know this and also know how long it takes to cook a pizza from fresh. My suggestion would be if the kitchen can’t cope doing table service and takeout then don’t offer takeout, it just damages your rep, as the...
