Arrived in camper van with mother and father in-law, mother-in-law has dementia and can hardly walk, thought we would go visit and give her a chance for short walk from car park to cafe, got her walker out and made for cafe. Cafe shut lovely hot sunny Thursday in early sept, managed to sit her down on a bench set and brought camper over to where she was sitting with father in-law and my wife, thought ok can make a cuppa for us all, the camper was parked without causing any bother, kettle on the boil cups on bench set when a voice piped up 'can you shift van and put it on car park', not a walk over and understand the situation!!! (It's more than my jobs worth). Read moreI took my granddaughter and grandson 2 & 6 to go rowing on the mear which is the biggest lake on yorkshire apparently! Very disappointed that they was out of use because of a choppy lake! So we went on an old pleasure boat instead which cost £8 for One adult and the kids which was fair for about 30 mins! The vendor could be a bit more friendlier but hey maybe he’s just a miserable sod! The cafe is small and alright for a cuppa and a sandwich! Strange in this day and age it was cash only which was ridiculous and would make many give it a miss as it’s a couple of miles drive to the nearest cash point! The mear itself is a very peaceful pretty place in spring and summer and it was an early sunny september afternoon so it vas very tranquil without many people around! Well worth a...
