The place itself was okay, not what I expected at all. The pub is on a small quiet back road and the b&b bit is across the road from the actual pub itself. It felt as though we were going into someoneās house. The room was very cold and the pillows were horrendously uncomfortable they were rock solid.
We couldnāt get any WiFi the whole stay we were there it was on and off, we did have to call reception a few times as I had to take work emails/calls. The food was quite bad if Iām honest, I ordered the chicken burger for dinner but had ran out of chicken. The waitress who served us for dinner didnāt really have much customer service, think she must of been new. She didnāt know the drinks menu and didnāt recommend anything else for me to have instead of the chicken due to having such a small menu.
In the morning they ran out of hash browns, when the breakfast came out, it was full of grease and the bacon wasnāt really cooked to how we like it. The menu is quite small not a lot of options, which is a shame really. Even a local looked quite disappointed when he heard there was no chicken or white meats.
To top it all off the people above us were super noisy, kept us both awake till early hours of the morning stomping about and constantly running baths/showers. We didnāt complain as we were too tired from the long drive we had.
On a positive note I want to say a massive thank you to Jordan the front of house man, he was amazing so welcoming and friendly. He couldnāt do enough for us, we asked for some coffee at dinner as soon as we got back to our room it was there on our tray already. He also tried to sort the WiFi out bless him.
All in all I donāt think we will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I walked in I was greeted by Tian she made me feel really welcomed and then took the time to not only walk me across the road to my beautiful room at the hotel but also explained things to me on to get in and out. When I went in the room itās awesome and reminded me of a stay I had in Paris. There was little nice things, bottles of water on the side, a coffee and tea box with loads of coffee bags, loads of milks (instead of the usual 2 that you get in most hotels which is never enough) cookies and twyingins tea. The power shower was great and it was lovely and clean and the beds were great sank right in them. Iām the bathroom was little niceties like soaps, shower gels which had ginsing in (itās the little things right)
I then went to the restaurant after a shower and Tania had booked me a table in the corner right by the fire (she recognised I was a single guy by myself & got me a lovely quiet table with a bench seat)
I had a steak, with pepper corn sauce skinny fries, peas with garlic butter and garlic bread with cheese. There was a great selection of real ales and ciders (Iām a cider drinker)
She kept checking on me to make sure everything was ok & tbh she was rushing around like r2d2 and had everything in hand.
Great place and I will be staying again.
P.s rooms are great and plenty enough space (Iām 6ft 4ā and never bumped my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to the horse and groom at lunchtime on 4th July 2018 with my wife and her elderly parents, the first thing we noticed was how dark it was inside, maybe to cut down the heat? There were four ladies at one table and two gentlemen at another, the delightful member of staff took our order and served our drinks. The two gentlemen left and my father in law noted one had left his meal uneaten, we then waited a considerable time for our meal, maybe 50 minutes, fresh food does take time to cook! Unfortunately the meals we had were tasteless, my steak was not worth the cost, vegtables undercooked, both parents did not eat their meals, which was unusual. I suggested we complain but my wife's elderly parents did not want to. They had been recommended the horse and groom so left very dissapointed. My wife left a review only days after our visit but this did...
