Jamal's — Restaurant in England

My partner and I went here for my birthday recently. We ordered our food and had a mediocre starter, we ordered our main course and when it came the food was vile, my partner told the waiter the food was vile, the waiter cane out and was aggressive towards us and told us that we had to to pay for our meal and after we paid for it he said he was going to chuck us out of the restaurant. There was no one else in the restaurant but me and my partner. The waiter was threatening and swearing, the bill was nearly 50 pounds and this included the main course which we were told to pay for regardless of the fact that we didn't eat any of it, and we only ate the starter. we were told we would be thrown out if we didn't leave willingly . There were three male staff in the retuarant and we felt threatened and worried as the waiter continually raised hos voice , shouting at us that his father had cooked the food and rhat it was us that didnt appreciate quality food, that was definately not quality food. He was verbally aggressive and confrontational, it was very worrying . We thought about going to the police as we are aware that you only pay for what you eat and we only ate the starter which quiet honestly were cold and unpleasant. I have never been anywhere so awful in my life and we will never ever go to this place again, and we are still contemplating going to the police or...

I went here with my friends as visitors to the town and based off my experience I would never go again. The waiter was quite abrupt and lacked manners. However he appeared to be the only one on the restaurant floor so that may be the cause for his rudeness. I was forced to order a main instead of being able to only get a side and starter as I wished. I ordered the vegetable biryani and I was immediately disappointed. It lacked any sort of flavour, seasonings or spice and came with a terribly fried egg on top. The Dhal it came with just as bland and clearly made with frozen vegetables. It was not authentic Asian food at all, I had one mouthful and couldn’t force myself to eat the rest. When I expressed this to the waiter he spoke to the chef and returned saying the chef can only add so much salt to food. The bill was quite expensive so I’d expect a lot more in terms of quality of food...

Best Indian restaurant in the area by a mile.The food is always exceptionally tasty. Visited last night and they kindly did me their Spice 25 special, but tailored to be the heat of a vindaloo - it was an absolute taste sensation. Succulent pieces of chicken and a sauce that was to die for. My partner had the lamb naga and let me sample a bit...the most tender bits of delicious lamb in a rich, spicy sauce, with a great kick of heat. Sides all exquisite too, as usual. Loving the new decor which looks smart and is still comfortable and cosy. The staff here are wonderful - they are helpful and knowledgeable , and incredibly polite .
