Update from a previous visit that was good - went back here again today three of us ate - two of us had a ‘Special’ battered haddock and scampi - haddock was good scampi clearly frozen breadcrumbed variety was ….hm ….average but ok. My daughter went for the cod, prawn and calamari basket which sounded appealing - unfortunately the dish was terrible - they literally served the prawns x2 calamari rings x2 and cod pieces x2 with an oversized portion of chips in a small steel basket. Once the items were removed from the basket the portion was very small - two pieces of each item all clearly frozen and overcooked - AND they were charging £14.50 for this - I can get a large battered cod and chips in London for the same price - sadly it was so disappointing we sent it back - for a fish and chip shop that advertised ‘Fresh fish’ this was bitterly disappointing and spoiled our enjoyment of the meal - it’s a shame the menu creator had to ‘cheap out’ on factory processed seafood when Grimsby fish market just is down the road. Why not offer fresh battered cod bites and battered fresh prawns - easy to make and 100 times better tasting (Chinese take aways manage to do battered prawns so why can’t these people do it - I think it’s laziness ) - sadly won’t be returning because of this. In fairness they did not charge us for the returned meal but it was a very poor show that I would expect from a downmarket cafe not a proper fish and chip shop. If this has been helpful, please like and follow me and I will follow you back.

Quality fish and chips at reasonable cost , located of the sea front tucked away on the side street . A good place to dine for under a tenner a head , ps the fish can be very big if you order a large . So check first on size to see if you can manage it . All produce served very very fresh to order in the restaurant . A well priced chippy tea of fish chips b&b curry sauce and a mug of tea to sit down was around £8.60 , and was plenty , I did share my fish as it was a big one , but very nice . Recommended for the big eater . Always a pleasure to visit since this posting we have returned time and time again it really is a great traditional fish and chips shop/restaurant that is great value for a tourist area and a totally independent local business , I hope they continue to do well !! .

"We had a wonderful time enjoying the delicious fish and chips at this place. The service was impressively quick, and our food arrived piping hot, which added to the enjoyment of our meal. While I wished for a few more chips, the large cod portion I received was absolutely massive and incredibly satisfying. Despite the bustling crowd, we didn't have to wait long for a seat, and I appreciated the dog-friendly policy, which made our visit much more convenient. The staff were not only friendly but also very helpful, contributing to the overall positive experience. Highly recommended for a delightful fish and chips feast!"

What a terrible owner and customer service not the staff they were lovely but the owner. My partner ordered a kids meal because she is on a diet and just wanted something light. I said to her I’m sure he just huffed at your order for ordering a kids meal. Anyway it did not stop there! I ordered a large sausage and chicken breast because I’m on the keto diet trying to slow my bone marrow cancer. The sausage was good but the chicken was frozen in the middle, so I passed a piece to the waitress and she apologised and she took it to the kitchen. The owner said what do you want me to do with that!! I said I didn’t want it, and did not want it re fried. It just put me off and It crossed my mind about my immune system and frozen chicken. The owner charged me for the frozen chicken so I left him a review on Facebook. He then proceeded to call me a liar and commented on me trying to get a free meal and said I had a bad attitude. Well that in its self shows the his attitude! he deleted the post after I explained I run an I.T. Company. Personally If he had called me a liar once more I would have considered dedicating some of my expertise to him! Just take what you want from this review but I would consider eating else where and avoid people like this. Is in no way reflects the behaviour of his staff as they did behave responsibly especially where poorly cooked chicken goes. He even said he had probed it at 95 degrees and in the same sentence suggested he had offered to replace it. The huge fibber lol what...

Meggies Quality Fish and Chips is nice small restaurant and takeaway on Market street in Cleethorpes. It's a clean and brightly decorated place with a seaside theme which gives it a nice cheerful atmosphere. The layout consists of a mismash of tables and chairs of varying sizes that can accommodate a wide variety of different sized party's.The menu includes Haddock, Cod, Plaice,Skate,Scampi. There's a good variety of other things including salads on offer. They have a pensioner special and It also has a children's menu making it family friendly. Table service is provided by friendly staff and it has it's own restrooms. The wheelchair access is good and the tables could easily accommodate a wheelchair or buggy.Like most of the restaurant's in area it has no parking structure of it's own,but there's parking space in the market place and lots more along the seafront. It's cash only here, and they were awarded a Trip Advisor certificate of excellence in 2017. They have a 5* food hygiene rating. Food review Jan 2019. I ordered a large fillet of haddock, chips and peas and a mug of tea. I had a short wait as the fish is cooked to order,a good sized portion arrived, nice crispy chips, the peas were a bit thin in consistency but tasted good. The fish was of pretty good quality with good white flesh and a fair amount of flavour. The price of £9.80 was about average for this size of meal at the moment. A pretty good...
