Jon's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in England

Absolutely awful service. DO NOT order from this place. The shop got the order wrong. I called the store 30 times with no answer. When I walked 10 minutes in the pouring rain to retrieve the missed order I was met by unpleasant and unapologetic staff. They told me that this was their 'customer service'. Upon this response, I told them that customer service is not getting my order wrong, actually answering the phone and apologising or giving me any compensation for the fact I could not eat with my family. If you want a lovely and efficient service, DO NOT order from this establishment. I am appalled by the poor staff and service. They have completely ruined my evening with no care. I have had to eat on my own without company due to the fact they would not answer the phone or give me any compensation for the wrong order. They will not deliver the correct order, you have to walk in the rain on your own to complain in person. Even when you complain in person, they do not take you seriously and offer nothing in return for their error. If you are on holiday here, the only recommendation I can give you is to avoid this place...

Let me preface this by saying I've given Jon's Fish & Chips a few chances. I genuinely wanted to like it. But tonight, they sealed their fate. I've had mediocre chips from them before, slightly soggy, perhaps a bit undercooked. But this time? This was an insult to the humble potato. I'm not even exaggerating when I say these were the most disgusting chips I've ever had.

They were clearly reheated, hard, and tasted like they'd been sitting around for hours. The oil was probably ancient. Every bite was a sad, greasy, crunchy experience. There was no fluffiness, no satisfying potato flavor, just a lingering taste of old oil and disappointment. They weren't even remotely fresh. They were, for lack of a better word, shitchips.

Honestly, if your craving is for chips that have been languishing in a warmer and taste like regret, then Jon's is your place. If you want freshly cooked, fluffy, golden perfection, please, go elsewhere. I’ve finally learned my lesson. This was my last visit to Jon’s, and quite frankly, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to look at another chip without shuddering. Steer...

After using this chippy for years in the past but recently its changed. We were dissapointed last time but thought it must have been a one off and would give them another go. They wont be getting a third.. We clearly ordered 2 fish and chips and 2 sausages. (Those waiting outside even heard). We received 1 fish and chips. They had only charge for one but we hadnt noticed until it was ready. To get a second portion would have taken so long we just shared. The wait was significant despite only a few people there. The portion was awful. Upon opening the box grease quite literally poured out. The box was soaked in it. The fish was small compared to other chippys and when breaking into it it turned out to be mostly batter. The batter was so oily i could use it as lip balm. And the chips ubderneath was sodden with it. On top of this none of it had any flavour and they didnt add the requested salt and vinegar. So bad i felt sick. We ended up going elsewhere. Will never use again. Such a shame. Christ knows what happened...
