I recently visited Raj Restaurant in Padstow Harbour, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. As someone who appreciates authentic Indian cuisine and has traveled extensively, I was disappointed by the high prices, the lackluster taste, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Let's start with the prices. I found them to be exorbitantly high, especially considering that I've visited numerous Indian restaurants throughout the UK and have never come across such steep prices. The most shocking aspect was being charged £5.00 for a naan bread, which is significantly higher than anywhere else I've been. It left me feeling like I was being taken advantage of as a customer. Moving on to the taste, I was expecting flavors reminiscent of Indian cuisine, but instead, it seemed like Raj Restaurant leaned more towards a Bangladeshi style. As an Indian myself, I have a deep appreciation for the diverse range of flavors and spices that Indian cuisine offers. Regrettably, the dishes I sampled lacked authenticity and failed to deliver the expected taste experience. The curry, in particular, was a letdown and lacked the vibrant and aromatic flavors that make Indian curries so delightful. Furthermore, the overall ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant didn't live up to my expectations. The decor was uninspiring, and the service was average at best. While I understand that the focus should primarily be on the food, a pleasant dining environment can greatly enhance the overall experience. Based on my visit to Raj Restaurant, I cannot recommend it to others seeking an authentic Indian culinary experience. The high prices, lack of genuine flavors, and underwhelming atmosphere make it difficult to justify dining there. As someone who has had the privilege of exploring various restaurants around the world, I believe there are better options available in the area. I encourage those in search of Indian cuisine in Padstow Harbour to explore other restaurants, read reviews, and seek recommendations from locals. It's essential to find an establishment that aligns with your taste preferences and provides an enjoyable dining experience. Overall, my visit to Raj Restaurant was disappointing, and I hope that the management takes this feedback into consideration to improve their offerings and meet the expectations of discerning diners.

Missed my Indian food, so we popped in for some. The restaurant is situated right on the estuary next to some industrial units, dont let that put you off tho. There is parking right outside too in their car park. Service was good and the staff are polite, prices were reasonable and portion sizes were okay too. The food was tasty, I find Indians always hit and miss when out in the sticks, so was pleasantly surprised. They have a decent range of beers and drinks here too. If you're after an Indian, then it's not bad to be fair. Might visit again if in Wadebridge......

Tonight was the first time I tried The Raj and I wasn't disappointed. It was one of the best restaurants I've visited in a long long time and I will definitely be returning. The service was excellent and guys there were more than helpful catering for my order. Food was delicious šŸ˜‹ and everything tested very good , especially king prawn was very flavourful.

Apparently, they don’t have enough side plates!?

Disappointing and shocked at the price! One of the main courses tasted nice though!

Unfortunately, we have just had the worst Indian Restaurant experience we’ve ever had.

As soon as we sat down, the first thing we noticed was that our table was sticky, then the chap that took our drinks order didn’t really want to be there and gave over a very ā€œcan’t be botheredā€ attitude, the Onion Bhajis that my wife had for her starter had the consistency of those that were heated up again from a previous service (2 were bone dry) 1 was ok and just dry around the edges – DEFINITELY NOT freshly made!

The whole.place lacked any kind of atmosphere.

We still can’t quite get over the fact that when we asked for an extra side plate so our 2 children could split a starter, we were told that we couldn’t as they didn’t have enough? I am not sure how that is even possible; the restaurant was far from full. Very odd. Surely even if it was full, they’d still have spares?

To top it all off, our bill came to £111. That was for 2 adults and 2 children (both under 10), of which there were only 2 main courses ordered as our 2 small people like to have little bits of everything on the table.

We’ve given 2 stars instead of 1 as the Lamb Delight was nice. Just a shame about...

Never go there the prices are very high and I wanna rip you off your rather have baked beans and toast and Pot Noodles is on toast and a bit of jam if you got money leftover or a egg of bacon Plus the fat man does not have an remorse of refunding or making another curry the fat man doesn’t want us to eat it because he wants to eat the leftovers so he makes more profit and his fat belly fat belly man he’s got two bellies The fat man’s got a reserve tank in his stomach basically that means that he’s got to stomach and eats all the leftovers he is a blender machine never go there...
