I will start off with a positive and it is the only positive, the woman who showed us our table and took our drinks order was pleasant and professional
Now for the negativesā¦.. Not prepared, no clue what they were doing and I donāt think the people doing the Sunday buffet were the usual chefs as the quality wasnāt good
The Thai buffet was offered from 4.30pm-7.30pm, my friend and I who had booked a table for 2 for there a little early and was seated as soon as we walked in at 4.35pm and had the pleasure of watching the 2 people in the kitchen go back-and-forth putting hot water in the bain maries
You would think that the food would be available at 4.30pm as advertised, nope, nothing was ready, after a 45min wait the first bit of food came out, boneless ribs (pork belly), chicken skewers, spring rolls and duck bao buns, no sign of the prawn toast or siu mai dumplings that were advertisedā¦.
After 4 tables had got up and got a few starters the food was all gone and the other tables had to wait a further 10mins for it to be refilled, the kitchen simply couldnāt keep up, out of 24 dishes that were advertised I shouldāve been ready at 4.30pm only 4 things were ready and were slowly being refilled by a woman walking out of the kitchen with a white tub pouting the food into the metal dishes, not really professional but hey ho itās not the end of the world
After another wait some steamed rice and fried rice came out and the fried rice was awful, it was obviously not cooked by the usual Thai chefs so that meant another long wait for the next dish to come out and still waiting on the starters to be refilled so tables were sat around waiting with no food
Food was coming out of the kitchen in dribs and drabs, some chips came out of the kitchen as well as yellow curry chicken, the chips were just standard frozen chips so no complaints, the yellow chicken curry tasted identical to icelands Ā£1 frozen chicken curries and to be honest, I wouldāve preferred one of them as the curry sauce was too watery, by the time the beef chow main came out I was done, I asked for an itemise bill and when it was delivered to the table by the lovely woman that sat us I asked to talk to the manager and was told āheās busy in the backāā¦..
I went on to explain that I wasnāt happy about having to pay Ā£17.95 per person for a buffet where only 8 of the 24 dishes were available after being there for over an hour and a half, I explained this to the woman who brought the bill over and she went in the back and talked to the manager who said we could have 1 persons buffet taken off the bill, even then I thought that was too much to pay so we agreed that I would pay for 1 buffet and 1 beer, the Ā£3.15 bottle of water was taken off the bill
In total I begrudgingly paid £21.90 and even that was more than I thought it was worth
I would love to talk to the proper management as I strongly feel the restaurant was rented out to people to put on a Thai buffet by people that had no right cooking Thai food or operating a buffet
All in all it was a disappointment from start to finish, the worst thing what I didnāt even get to try the Pad Thai that is Thailandās national dish and when done correctly is amazing
Such a disappointment experience, I would urge anyone going to any further Thai buffet nights at this place to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne star does not suffice. We placed an order at 7:05pm via Uber Eats. The estimated delivery time was 7:55-8:15pm. The restaurant could have changed this time if they were running behind, updated us, contacted us, told us they were running late, apologised for the delay... honestly, any of these things would have been fine. Instead, we heard nothing, meaning that we had to call them three separate times to find out what on earth was going on. Each time, the response was the same "the driver has your order, it's on the way". This was obviously a lie, since there was no way an order could have been on the way for over an hour when we live 7 minutes away from the restaurant by car. In the end, the order finally arrived at 9.35pm, after we had phoned the restaurant to cancel it and they told us they could not contact their own delivery driver (they don't use Uber drivers according to the app) so we had to tell him to take the order back and that we cancelled it. I completely understand that there are likely to be delays with things like this, especially in the current climate, but all it needed was a quick "really sorry but we're running late" and to be told the truth about whatever was going on that caused the massive delay. To have no information whatsoever and to be lied to is just not good enough. We have had food from Arroy Thai before and it was lovely, which is why this is such a shame, as we will certainly never be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeing a food enthusiast and a lover of Far Eastern and Thai cuisine decided to try Arroy Thai in Widnes out before tagging my friends along. Dined in at 6pm on a Wednesday evening. Met the owner of the shop who was taking my order. I had high hopes at this point since the owner was explaining how passionate he was with Thai food. Ordered a 3 course meal of the special menu when looking at the price I was expecting the food to be top notch. Like most people, I have no issue with prices as long as the food was good. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of the food that was served. It was very poorly made with very little to no taste. Thai food is all about bursting with flavours and enticing those taste buds but sadly nothing was felt. The beef was like rubber to a point were it was almost impossible to swallow. All was left behind including the dessert which tasted awful. The food definitely didn't look or tasted fresh despite the price its asking for. Feedback to the waiter but sadly no one was bothered. I would have been better off going to my local chippy. But hey ho it was worth a try. Unfortunately, cannot recommend this place. This was my first time here and...
