Usually, this KFC branch is one of the better ones, in fact, one of the best I've been to (and I've been to a lot of them!)but this time I felt compelled to leave a review as it was SHOCKING! The store was understaffed, and the drive-through was closed so I assume this caused even more people to come into the restaurant to order. So upon arrival, almost every table was taken up by people waiting for food! So we kind of knew we would be in for a bit of a wait, but at least thought the food would be super fresh, because they couldn't seem to cook it quick enough. I paid cash, so ordered from the machine and followed the instructions to pay at the counter. I was completely ignored for almost 10 min, so anyone who had ordered and paid by card in the meantime, would of automatically got their order confirmed in the Que before I’d even paid!! A bad policy that needs to be addressed. Finally after paying, I took a seat alongside lots of annoyed people. Well the kitchen organization was dreadful, and hygiene appalling! I watched in horror as the main server for ‘front of house’ (and ginger guy with long hair in a pony tail and glasses) rearranged his hair in the net, and have a good head scratch in the process and then carry on touching food!! No hand washing, clean downs or anything! He didn't do this once in that time either. In the half hour we were sat waiting for our food, he did this quite a few times! And there was a restaurant full of people, all looking forward to the kitchen, as we were all waiting to see our order numbers come up! So you can imagine, at least 30 sets of eyes looking at you! I understand the pressure involved in a fast pace kitchen, but KFC of all places, should be used to a busy Saturday night. Not totally ill prepared. About 1 in every 3 orders were either sent back, or complained about for having things missing. So a total lack of communication on all levels. I realise this guy probably had to take the brunt of all the unhappy customers complaints etc. But I can't believe more people haven't complained, maybe they have? As I heard the complaints procedure quoted a couple of times, and what I assume as the email address for complaints given out on a piece of paper. So finally we got our food and half of it had obviously been sat there a while, as the burger was cold and soggy. The rest was ok. But the amount of people complaining the dips and coleslaw were missing, and then to top it off the ice cream machine ran out! The last comical moment was seeing another staff members, come out the front from the kitchen with a set of keys in her hand, wearing what looked like a white bin bag with holes cut out the arms!? She wasn't outside for long, after coming back in with what looked like a can of monster in her hand. Again, no hand washing, and the fact this was done during an extremely busy time of the evening, shows the staff are totally incapable of even basic hygiene, and I worry for the health of every single customer. As this is totally unacceptable. What a sham of a restaurant. Hopefully, head office or a duty manager will see this review and offer an...
Read moreI love KFC and once even wrote to the US to ask for a live chicken in a cage and a bag of mix when supply issues struck the UK. I was therefore keen to check the latest long-time-coming addition to the Cornish KFC collection. What stuck me immediately was how complex access to the site was by car. Once found even walking from the Travelodge side is hazardous because of slopiing kerbs and having to cross the line of drive-thru cars. The place looks impressive BUT as soon as we entered we were hit by a nauseating acrid smell of burnt fat, and a thick smokey haze literally pervaded the whole eating area. The self-order kiosks are so badly placed that you miss them. There were other layout issues which rarely arise in other KFCs as well. Ordering is a nightmare because the product display sineage is so poor and reverts to what looks like a 6 ft flashing battered banana every 30 or so seconds:as a result the sole order-taker had to go through massive choices with ill prepared 12 year olds and others every time. When the food finally arrived, being announced Argos-style, two consecutive orders were incomplete and my 2 piece meal actually comprised of only 2 tiny bits of wing, even getting one is a rip-off; getting 2 is an insult. The guy on the table next to ours fared much worse and got a 'vegetarian' bargain bucket!! The food was very good indeed, but it didnt feel like it. The place was equiped with extractors, so why make us suffer such intrusive and unpleasant air pollution? The toilets were clean but the mixed sex arrangement is not well thought out and will probably provide the later night after-dinner desserts for some. All in all this was a really disappointing experience despite the good...
Read moreThis must be the slowest fast food restaurant in the country. Tried it twice now, the first time drive through, there was six cars in front it took over an hour before we finally got to the window for our food. The restaurant had only been open for a couple of weeks so thought it must be that it’s all new and the systems need to be learnt. Went back a few weeks later and joined the drive through queue again about seven cars in front, sat there for about five minutes and no movement, thought not again! So managed to reverse out of the queue and decided to park up and order in store. The restaurant looked half full but only 2 tables had food. My order was taken after about five minutes which was a ten piece bargain bucket. I was warned that it may take sometime they weren’t joking forty minutes. When we came out we noticed the car in front of us in the drive through queue was still two cars back from the food window!! Needless to say won’t be going back anytime soon. The owners/managers need to get it sorted, it must be a nightmare for the staff having to deal with unhappy customers. Just a footnote the other occupied tables in the restaurant were customers waiting for...
