L'arte Coffee House — Restaurant in England

Dear Larte… for my three years at University, you became my home away from home. You kept me going in first year with early lectures in the cold wet winter, you were the perfect place to bunk off for an oat cappuccino in second year, in third year your iced mochas became my obsession as I worked through hot spring and early summer on my final hand ins. You were a home to me, Larte, with your beautiful green walls. Sweet Larte, do you know how often my friends and i texted about you? My eyes would light up when I saw a message on my phone pop up with that one lovely word… larte? You hosted my tentative first few dates with my girlfriend, where together we would sit and watch others, speculate if they too were on dates. Even when you started charging more for oat milk, I still loved you unconditionally. Even now, a year left from AUB, I sit in sub-par cafes and dream whistfully of you, we’ll say to each other “it’s no Larte”. Franchises, dear Larte! Open an Exeter branch! Thank you for all...

Popped in here last week for a cup of coffee, there were 3 members of staff behind the counter, we stood for a while with not one of them interacting with us at all, I totally get that they may have been busy but it takes seconds just to acknowledge us and say hi I'll be with you in sec, not very welcoming at all , they were all pretty miserable no friendly smiles or happy faces greeting us, at the end of the day we've chosen your establishment to have a coffee in, so maybe just a smile would have been nice. On the plus side the coffee was amazing , but not sure i would go back to be made to feel...

The coffee house has undergone major reconstruction since my review last year.

The atmosphere has changed and it's more minimalist and streamlined and much less comfortable. The rotating art from various artists has been replaced by grey paint. Long hardwood benches and small metal and wooden chairs compliment the minimalist look but are very uncomfortable to sit on.

The actual coffee can vary depending on their supplier at the time. At the time of this review it's really not great.

The staff are wonderful.
