It feels like this bakery has missed a trick.

Located in a prime position within Lacock, it has the benefit of a mature tourist trade. In my eyes it should and could be making alot of money.

It could be a fantastic little bakery selling artisan produce and coffee

However the reality is this bakery feels like it is selling cheap produce at significant cost.

Coffee comes from one of those fast serve one button machines that tastes awful.

The selection of pastries, cakes and other producs ( with the exception of the hundreds of jars of condiments lining the wall) are in short supply, Everytime I have gone in there the shelves have been pretty bare.

The ice cream is not worth it, too expensive, lacking flavour and you can find better for cheaper just up the road near the abbey.

Lastly the few times we have visited there only seems to be one staff member on. It's not enough, you need at least two.

Certainly missed a trick...

Reminded me of going into bakers when I was a kid on holiday. Lots of sweet and savory snacks and some old brands I hadn't seen before.

There wasn't a huge selection of cakes or pastries but they did have a few. They're were 4 of us and we choose a savory snacks each and they offered to warm of up... Unfortunately this meant slinging it into the microwave (not a criticism.. Every baker seems to do this) but this meant while my pasty was lukewarm my son's was scalding hot - so be careful.

It's a lovely little place and I bet it's very busy during the summer/tourist months. The single staff member wasn't particularly helpful, not rude, but just a bit off. Maybe they'd had a long day. Worth a visit if...

A dog friendly shop/cafe!

I had just finished a 2 hour hike in the area and desperately need something to eat and drink.

The sign outside the shop said dogs were welcome and I was so thankful!

There are only 3 tables inside, which were all taken, but there was a small bench and dog water bowl just outside the entrance.

I ordered a warm Cornish pasty which was delicious!

The loaves looked amazing, but I didn't buy any this time.

There's also a range of ice creams to buy... Great for summer time!

There is a variety of sweets, drinks and deli items to purchase, and chilled drinks are in the fridge to the right when you walk in.

Great prices!

Staff were welcoming and friendly.

I'd...

My wife purchased a dark sourdough and two sausage rolls. The sourdough was inedible, like a brick, it hadn’t risen. To be fair the sausage rolls were ok. I shall be reporting this bakery to trading standards for selling products which are not to standard. Sadly I didn’t need a new doorstop which is what this loaf would be suitable for. I would avoid buying any bread from here as they clearly do not know how to bake.
