Very much enjoyed my experience in Mabel's this morning. The interiors are warm and welcoming and the breakfast bar seating provides a pleasant a spot from which to watch the (strangely comforting) waves of traffic wash by. Outside, there is Parisian-style cafe seating. The customer service was friendly, but not over the top. There is a very wide selection of cakes, biscuits and pastries, all of which looked delicious. In terms of coffee, the blend on offer is an unpretentious Illy Classico (Arabica). Mabel's doesn't pretend to be anything it is not. That's to say: Mabel's isn't 'speciality' coffee... but it is a feel good cafe experience that I'm sure the Old Town punters will enjoy for some time to come. Read moreI came here because on google maps it says they have waffles, went in to realise there were no waffles. We were completely lied to. The food was mediocre at best. We had the almond croissant and the cinnamon bun. They said they would heat it up but when biting into it, it was completely cold and soggy. The cinnamon bun was the worst I’ve ever had, the coffee was bad too, it felt very low quality and we didn’t finish it. The only good thing was the drinks that came in a bottle so they didn’t even make it. There’s also no toilet. There was no place to park but we managed to find a coop car park nearby. It is dog friendly which is good. Won’t be coming here again, too expensive for...
Read moreHad heard good things about Mabels.but was really disappointed. I was hoping sandwiches would be freshly made but it was the standard coffee shop chilled selection. I had a tuna melt which was the worst I had ever had. Bread was like rock and the filling tasted like vinegar..thin, runny and unpleasant to taste. My partner asked if there was a toilet and told no...I get there is no legal requirement for a small cafe but the staff member made no effort to help or suggest somewhere to go (presumably staff use somewhere). In fact she was more interested in playing on her phone than helping us. There are much better cafes in Old Town...we won't be back...
