I was looking for somewhere to take my mum for an afternoon tea on Saturday. It was very last minute and I didn't think that I would be able to get in anywhere, but I rang and they kindly let us book for that afternoon. Both myself and my mum are quite fussy eaters, and when we arrived I had a quick chat with the girl serving and she went out of her way to make sure that we did not get any sandwiches that we didn't like. When it came, there was a lovely arrangement of little bits to eat, little tea cup of lentil soup, little macaroon, quiche, little pizza, and much more! The positives - the establishment is close to the town centre and the food is decent. Everything else - my fella found an auburn hair on his plate. He also faced a very unprofessional and unpleasant treatment from the staff when he asked for Assam tea, there was smirking, tuting and a particularly ironic I'll quote: 'We're not a specialist tea place' - could have fooled me, with a name like 'tea rooms'. When I addressed the hair, the staff bristled up and the cook tried to confront me and kept saying 'Should have said, should have said', instead of a genuine apology. I rang up for a last minute afternoon tea and they managed to fit my daughter and I in. We have been to the Leyland before and it was excellent. TBH, I thought that's where we were going today, good job I set my SatNav off from the Google page and rang up to double check. The food was amazing, soo tasty, extra fresh and there was enough to bring home for our tea. We ordered extra soup to bring home as it was soo delicious 😋 Would highly recommend.
