So the first problem we encountered was we struggled to get into the building the doors wouldnt open it took a while wandering round to realise there was a little doorbell to press to enter which is impressive for security but it would have been nice for there to be a sign or something. The hotel itself was super fancy with lights under the reception counter and a large screen wall and the staff were very pleasant. We went to the room and found it was also very nice like the photos. However it was missing a kettle which we found strange because there was a charger for a kettle and everything needed for a brew we called for assistance which took a few calls but eventually someone came up about it and replaced the kettle although the replacement was broken which we mentioned. the netflix function also didnt work on the tv either (once on netflix the remote was unresponsive to the tv except to exit- the assistant couldnt understand it either and tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't work) but by this point we just wanted to get out since we had planned to watch a movie at the cinema. When coming back the beds were lovely. The breakfast was also lovely although we werent sure what to do for breakfast since they only had cereal and fruit on the side and normally in hotels theres a counter to request cooked food but in this instance someone eventually came up to ask what we wanted. I asked for beans on toast with sausage and most places would have toast with sausage on the side and pour beans over it but in this instance we got a TINY pot for the beans which my partner and I found strange and I asked for extra beans which was another tiny amount I felt rationed and embarrassed to ask for extra. However the ambience with the soft piano music is pleasant to eat breakfast to. I think while there are improvements to be made I would recommend this hotel and would...
Read moreDuring my recent stay at Hotel 99 in Blackburn, I found the staff to be exceptionally accommodating and welcoming. Their genuine friendliness and readiness to assist without any hassle made a significant positive impact on my experience.
The room provided was spacious and well-furnished, featuring a very comfortable bed that ensured a good night’s sleep. However, a word of caution is necessary regarding the shower room. The floor tiles can be extremely slippery, even when dry, a fact that is subtly warned about with a “slippery when wet” sign. This caution cannot be overstated.
One area that could see improvement is the noise insulation. The external sounds, including cars, people, and occasional boy racers, not to mention the police, were quite audible from within the room. For those who are light sleepers, this could be a significant consideration.
As for the location, Hotel 99 is not situated in the most desirable part of Blackburn. I chose this hotel for its proximity, allowing for easy walks to nearby dining options and some exercise. However, it quickly became apparent that one needs to exercise more than just their legs when venturing out from the hotel due to the less salubrious surroundings.
In conclusion, Hotel 99 Blackburn offers a welcoming atmosphere with comfortable accommodations, marred slightly by issues with noise and its immediate location. For those visiting Blackburn and looking for a place that offers warmth and comfort, this hotel is a viable option, albeit with a few considerations to...
Read moreBedroom and bathroom were absolutely stunning.|Comfy mattress.|Plenty of tea and coffee.|The negative I have for this hotel leaving my review was a 3/5 was I booked through triple for 2 adults and they changed it to 1 adult (no fault of the hotel of course) but on departure I was asked to pay £25 for my partner. |I of course paid this but I did query as to why. |The gentleman on reception explained that they had single occupancy guests complaining about the fact they were paying £105 for a room so they lowered a single occupancy to £79.|I work for a hotel myself and we charge by the room , it doesn’t matter if there’s 1 adult or 2 adults and 3 children. They use the same room. |A single occupancy guest could use the same amount of amenities as a family of 5. |I do not agree with this extra charge and believe all hotels should be on room rate not the amount of guests. The 2 gentleman I dealt with were absolutely fantastic. This isn’t a complaint more of a criticism. Of course I understand staff are only following their policies and I completely respect that. I would have stayed with this hotel again but learning that it’s £25 for my partner to come into the room and share a king sized bed with me and 1 tea bag each is a bit silly. |If we had squeezed into a single bed I’d...
