Took about an hour to get here. Nice place, weather was beautiful and the new play area was nice and clean. There is something for everyone.
Parking is ample as you can park on the single yellow line outside of the loading only times which I think were 9 to 5pm Mon to Fri.
As we are not from the area, we didn't really know where to go once the Sat Nav had done its job, but we were fortunate to have found the right place. If you turn left before the park (I suppose it depends where you're coming from) I think the road is West Park Road or something, and drive up to the top end, it's just a short downward slope to the play area.
We didn't go for a long walk across the grounds, but from a distance it appears there are some nice places to walk to.
There is a field behind the play area that slopes upwards towards the far back and you can sit there with, say a baby (ideally your own), while the older children play in the play area and you can easily keep an eye on them.
Geographically, on the grass the sun was positioned well and didn't disappear behind the trees well before sundown.
All in all a nice day out, perhaps not worth the commute if you live very far away but a gem for the locality.

Read moreGrew up visiting this park, the two lakes are a great place for wildlife spotting. The childrens park is very good, safety gated and cushioned floor areas. The park as avenues of trees that make a great walk anytime of the year, Devils and Angels Rock for the budding rock climber. The bird house and its chirpy inhabitants, The only let down is the old Victorian Conservatory, vandalism and disrepair plus the huge expense to bring it back to it's former glory, would be nice to see this happen. At the top of the park you'll find The Sebastopol Cannons with a great outlook over Blackburn and beyond. Dropping back into the park you'll find tennis courts and nice areas to either sit and relax or stroll the many paths and long avenues, there are also bowling greens. If you follow the outskirts of the park you'll also come across The 60 steps. If you start from the bottom of the park that runs next to Preston New Rd you'll find water features and lovely flower areas. A lot of newly Wed's opt for this area for photography of their...

Some good views but many trees get in the way. Maybe some selective forest management could well open up some views of the town and beyond without disrupting the habitat too much.
Sure there’s some company that could achieve this...I wouldn’t trust the council, however. They’d just rip trees out without any form of considered, informed forethought. Could it be? Allegedly...
going off past performance, especially buildings lost from the Early Victorian period and earlier that were pulled down for ‘progress’ with buildings that were dilapidated in 10-20 years and torn down in 40-60 years.
That’s why the National Trust and other conservation groups were formed, to save the heritage of buildings that councils were tearing down without concern for their cultural heritage. The Cavern Club in Liverpool being the...
