āA Hidden Gem That Feels Like Homeā
Tucked just down from Tesco in Serpentine Green, Mamma Mia by Sub Express is one of those rare finds that makes you feel like youāre in on a secret. Owned and run by Maria ā a kind-hearted local Italian whoās nearly always there with a smile and a warm welcome ā this spot has quietly become our go-to date place⦠usually before the glamorous world of grocery shopping.
The food? Always fresh, tasty, and fairly priced. We havenāt made it in for breakfast yet, but the morning special is calling our names. And the cocktail menu? Letās just say the buy one, get one is a dangerously delicious invitation to say āancora uno!ā
The atmosphere is just as inviting as the menu. Since the renovations, itās got a bright, cozy charm that works whether youāre grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a slower moment. It can get busy (for good reason), but thereās always a seat for those who know where to look.
In a town where smiles can sometimes feel rationed, Mamma Mia is the exception ā warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. A little slice of Italy, tucked away in Peterborough.

Was on my way to Burger King next door but as i passed by i was blown away by the decor, cleanliness, the faint italian music in the background, all of it! I had to have a peice of it!
The menu ranged from pizzas, to subs, to pasta. And a lovely variety of flavours!
I picked a Meatball Feast sub, on white bread, as seen in the photo, and a bottle of cherry coke for Ā£13.60. In todays money thats a going rate for a lunch lets be realistic š¤š»
But what triggered my need to leave this review was the gentleman that served me, was so polite and professional, not just to me, but to his staff. Please and thank youās, and addressing his chef as āchefā rather than just shouting orders over.
An elderly gentleman came in on his own, ordered his food and this same server carried his coffee to the gentlemans table, and insisted that he brings his food to his table when its ready, he took care of him, and it was shown with love and passion.
I have absolute respect for this establishment and i wish there were more places like this! I had a beautiful experience and will return!
Keep up the great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām never coming again. Me and my mum came here because the cafe was shut and we wanted to eat, Iām not eating for the rest of my life.
My mum was very clear about my picky self not wanting anything extra in my tuna mayo, just tuna and mayo. Please explain why my tuna was yellow, and tasted vile. It had lumps in it, which we assume was sweetcorn, but there was also something else in it I canāt quite put my finger on. I took one bite and now feel sick, forced my mum to eat the rest, and she claims sheāll never get over it. I donāt think she will. See image below.
The ham and cheese toastie wasnāt so bad, but the ham and cheese were rather cheap and dry: maybe thatās your jam I shall not judge.
On the other hand, the service wasnāt as awful. The lady that served us was nice, but just gave us a cup and told us to fill it upā¦. Where?? 𤨠Once we had found the water-filler, we took a look at the buttons, there were two buttons that said stop, none that said start.
