My daughter and I thought we'd grab a rare quick breakfast whilst collecting her glasses. Went to the café and thought of brilliant, self service. We weren't keen on having a particular item on the breakfast so thought we'd go to the till for some assistance in swapping an item. Nichola who was behind the till said go to the screens and you can swap it at no extra charge we thanked her and if needed help we'd come back. The price was continually going up on the screens so off we went back to Nichola, explained the situation and she proceeded to ignore us leaving us standing at the till all whilst ignorantly ignoring us with her back turned without a single acknowledgement after asking for help. The men in the kitchen were very smiley I will say and we're grafting. I pity them if she's as ignorant to them as she is to a potential customer. As a result from being ignored we decided to go elsewhere. We ended up in mamma Mia (previously the pizza place near bk) and what a difference. The staff were pleasant, efficient and courteous. Nichola could learn a thing or two from the younger staff about customer service skills. On the bright side, we are glad she treated us so rudely because the breakfast at Mamma Mia was outstanding. Today marks yet another attempt to give this place a go, but the sad truth seems to be if you want more than tea and cake after 14:00 (earlier on a Sunday) you won't really get hot food.
The food itself is actually decent when you can get it, but unfortunately, like a tea room straight out of the 1970s, you can't get hot food because... well because. I can only assume the food hygiene rating is 6 as with at least 3 hours cleaning a day I would imagine the kitchen is spotless.
There are many reasons a hungry soul would turn up at 14:45, looking for a decent late lunch. Mine is literally I don't drive and have limited bus access.
I do admire the attitude this business has though. Limiting their profits so they don't have to cook food after 14:00 is arrogant but bold.
Overall, for a place that held such allure and promise when opened, and is decent when you can get fed, I have to rate low for the lack of customer focus and sheer arrogance...
Read moreHad an appalling experience here yesterday. Called in the cafe at 1215 after meeting hubby out of work.
The rotund guy (who never wears his name badge), I found out his name is Anthony, was extremely rude to us to the point that we left and walked out without ordering food or drinks. He told us food would be 3/4 hour wait, despite him not even asking us what we’d like, (I only wanted a panini!).
He then blocked the gangway with 2 large ‘wet floor’ signs.
He seriously should not be working in a customer facing role, downright rude and...
