Do not stay here unless you are comfortable with a room temperature that any better sleep website will tell you is too hot for sleeping! We had the window open and the supplied fan on and could not get the temperature below 27°C as indicated by the thermostat in the bedroom and backed up by my son's alarm clock. It was only 11°C outside. As well as the stifling temperature, the bed made a loud creak with every slight movement which led to my wife and I finding it impossible to get any sleep.
In the morning we reported our concerns to reception who were very apologetic and directed us to make a claim under their Good Night Guarantee via email. I did this after our long tired drive back to Scotland and within the required seven days. The response was very disappointing. They do not provide a refund for hot room temperatures because, and to quote, "As there is no air conditioning within this hotel, the room, therefore could not be cooled down preventing the room from overheating." So because they don't supply air conditioning, a room temperature that's uncomfortable to sleep in should be expected! With regard to the bed noise, they class that as "Internal Hotel Noise" so we should have reported that to reception in the middle of the night to give them the opportunity to sort it out. Not ideal!
We also ate in the attached restaurant and while our food was okay, we heard a couple and a family refusing to pay for their food.
All in all we were extremely disappointed with this hotel and their response to our claim which we were advised to make by their staff. I'll certainly think twice before booking another Premier Inn and wouldn't even consider it if there is no air...
Read moreOn this occasion, the let down was due to people, either guests at the hotel themselves or just people eating and drinking at the attached restaurant, thinking it appropriate to shove their kids outside in the carpark to play football around people's cars and scream underneath people's hotel windows between 9 and 10pm at night. I had to go down to reception twice to ask the person there to try tell them to stop after the gestures I received from these kids when I asked them to go and stop shouting outside my window, were less than polite (as if the parents shoving them out wasn't enough of a clue what type we were dealing with, the language and gestures of their kids was confirmation).
Also, again, those with children decending into the dining room for breakfast and again, instead of sitting their kids at a table and the parents going around the breakfast item, kids were left to wander and even run around, handle food etc..... unpleasant and noisy for people who do not cope well with noise and crowds, especially so early in the morning. My parents would never have let us wander around a restaurant / food serving area, we would have been sat or at least held by the hand to choose our food....I ended up having to wrap my croissants in napkins and take them and my coffee back up to my room the first morning and didn't go down for breakfast at all the second morning, eventhough it had been paid for. I guess different standards of parenting and levels of entitlement means some people are entitled to have kids and the rest of us have the pleasure of sampling their delight, ruining our experiences....
Staff were, however, pleasant...
Read moreThis review is for people who've stayed in plenty of Premier Inns. (If you haven't stayed in many Premier Inns then this hotel is just adequate - nothing special. It's comfy and clean, good service and food. Good value for money)
Amongst the sprawl of Premier Inns, I've found that you get your good and... okay... This Prem'Inn I found to be really QUITE GOOD.
Parking was plentiful at 7pm and free for 24hrs. There was always someone on the front desk. I asked for a quiet room and was put at the end of the hall, fine. Room was spotless. Keycards work. TV fairly large enough and worked. A good choice of food and it was well cooked. Good choice of beer and wine, and the spirits choice looked above normal, a popular restaurant for people to drive to. Sports kept separate. People seem respectful.
Breakfast was certainly plentiful and service was exemplary. The food was all good at 8am but the fried eggs were as solid as can be and the scrambled egg was strangely solid too (I know I could've got some freshly made for me but I didn't have time) Coffee machines worked, good coffee as usual and a separate water machine. Choice of semi or whole milk which for me is unusual. I left feeling that they would all go the extra mile to get me what I reasonably want.
One member of staff stood out for me and I think her name was Kerri. Very polite and helpful but kept busy too. There was a slightly older lady than the rest behind the bar that was equally polite and helpful, but I didn't catch her name. All the female staff in the restaurant area were...
