Nipped in yesterday for some fast food, as we were a bit short of time. And it was a bit of a balls up really. Loads of staff, it almost looked overcrowded behind the counter and in the kitchen. Yet somehow they only had two tills on and seemed only to be able to deal with one order each at a time. All told it probably took over fifteen minutes just to get served. I could have ordered and received a pub meal in the same amount of time. Just came in for breakfast, and was served at the counter by a young lady, in such a dour and curt manner. Not nice âšī¸. She then started to reach for a table service number, changed her mind, and decided not to offer table service at all. Think I'll stick with the screen ordering. It's clearly the future. I thought I'd cracked it today. Fast, polite, friendly service, by a very nice young lady. Fresh warm chicken deluxe n fries. Hot cappuccino. But unfortunately there was a 2" long black hair nestling amongst my fries đđđââī¸. Good effort though. Update! 02/09/21. I popped in for a quick lunch. Big mac, fresh, warm! Fries, fresh v hot! Excellent so far. Cappuccino, literally almost cold. And weak. Only drank a couple of mouthfuls. They'd have done me another I don't doubt, but I had to get going. What I really wanted was for it to be hot (or reasonably warm) and have some flavour in the first place. It's a poor show when you can make a far better cappuccino at home. My cursed English politeness has cost me a slice of mcds finest cheese today! I drove thru (going in isn't good any more, you're at the back of the queue of delivery drivers), said "a medium big mac meal please", which presumably became "a medium big mac meal no cheese". đ Update! 18/04/22 Fast food's Victor Meldrew is back đđ. Well, I've started going through the drive thru, as I was sick of waiting for all the delivery drivers (big orders obviously) to be served before in-store customers. But it backfired today, as I was asked to wait for the order in the car park. After over half an hour it arrived đŠ. Quarter with cheese couldn't be described as even tepid. It was cold. And I'd drunk my cappo half hour earlier. Oh n a delivery driver perched his bum on the wing of my car till he realised I was actually sat in it. So going in ain't good, and the drive through is risky too. Update 14/10/22. The pull of the big mac was too great n I headed back to the drive thru. I thought it's 11.15, so well before the lunch rush. I ordered and didn't move at all for over ten minutes. With around 10 or 12 cars in front of me, I thought better of the idea n gave up đ. If I ever have a truly positive experience at Congleton McDonald's, I'll definitely add it to this record breakingly long review đ. I just realised, after all the updates, on what has become the longest review ever, McD's have never replied to any of...
Read moreAt last ...... Maccy's have finally got their "in restaurant", "externally delivered" and "drive through" offerings better coordinated.
Presumably the primary challenge was IT systems, hardware, software and one of integration so that all "channels" can operate side-by-side WITHOUT causing a "neighbour" system to fall over.
Staff seem a lot more chillaxed, like the good old days, once more.
I used the code from the App on my android smartphone to kick-off my order via one of the "in-house" touchscreen terminals. Still plagued with consumable shortages so when came to choosing a soft drink for my Large Meal it became apparent this wasn't possible presumably due to an absence of Large Cups (Really need to flag that to customers BEFORE they start ordering !!! Coz the result is it's just easier to start again and opt for a Medium Meal.
Still, 95% better than last time and if Maccers get this bit "tuned" the nearest they'll ever get to perfection will be in their grasp. Well done for getting this far.
My calorie count, and nutrition levels were very good. To think that in 2023 you can order a Medium Meal (wrap + salad + Coje zero) & a large tea for ÂŖ7 (incl 32p donation) for less than 375 kcals is...
Read moreThe food in this specific McDonald's was delicious to say the least. Although, the fries I ordered were definitely under-salted. In my opinion, the fries had no taste at all. Though, the Five Piece Chicken Select I ordered was perfectly fine, the same as any other McDonald's I've been too. During the Drive-Thru, when they took your order, the person on the other end was very dull and, I wouldn't say impolite, but he sounded like he didn't care. The place where this McDonald's was built was very impractical as well. You have to drive through a Shell Garage and drive down a small area to get to this place. The small area to drive through went both ways. If you had a large car, you would have to wait for the other car to go through first. Even when you do come through this way, your immediately met with the end of the Drive-Thru and waiting bays. If you managed to make it past that, you would have to drive around the McDonald's to reach the car park. If you wanted to Drive-Thru, you would have to go all the way around. If you've finished your meal and are ready to leave, you would have to get in the car and somehow turn around to go back the way you came through, or drive through the...
