Miah in Pangbourne is hands down one of the finest dining experiences I’ve had in years – an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves high-quality Indian cuisine paired with genuine hospitality.
Let’s start with the food – the Chicken Tikka Masala is exceptional. Rich, creamy, and full of bold yet balanced spices, it’s a dish that manages to be deeply comforting while still offering complexity in flavor. You can tell it’s made fresh, with attention and passion. Every bite is perfectly tender, and the sauce is so good I could drink it.
Then there’s the Lamb Tikka – smoky, succulent, and marinated to perfection. It arrives sizzling and fragrant, and the meat just melts in your mouth. You can taste the quality of the lamb, and the spices they use enhance rather than overpower. It’s clear they know exactly what they’re doing in the kitchen.
But what truly elevates Miah from great to unforgettable is Mohammad, the owner. He is the heart and soul of this restaurant. From the moment you step through the door, you’re treated like family. Mohammad is incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely cares about every single guest’s experience. He remembers regulars by name, takes the time to check on each table personally, and you can see the pride he takes in everything — from the food to the service to the ambience. It’s rare to see an owner so involved and passionate, and it absolutely shines through in the experience.
The ambiance at Miah is cozy yet elegant, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff are all courteous, prompt, and clearly well-trained. But it’s Mohammad’s presence that really ties everything together — he sets the tone for what hospitality should be.
In short: if you’re anywhere near Pangbourne, make Miah a priority. You won’t just be having a meal — you’ll be treated to a truly memorable dining experience. We will absolutely be back,...
Read moreLast week we held a celebratory dinner at Miah's Pangbourne. There were 13 family members celebrating our daughter's and granddaughter's birthdays. The manager kindly arranged the tables so we all sat together and he had put up a couple of balloons, a birthday banner and sparkles strewn on the tables. A nice gesture. Together with our own balloons it created a festive atmosphere. We have eaten at Miah's before and always enjoyed their food. There was a unanimous vote of satisfaction and enjoyment of the various dishes ordered by each one. A small disappointment were the parathas which were rather leathery and a couple of the younger ones who ordered these could not eat them. We did not mention this at the time but having asked to take them home it became evident that they were definitely not made well. However the rest of the services was definitely a success. There were many sounds of ooohs and Aarhs as each tasted their dishes. The service was attentive and polite without being intrusive. Whilst the prices have increased since Covid-19 this makes it difficult to eat at restaurants more often but we hope to return to Miah's in the not too distant future. Thank you Miah's for a very enjoyable celebratory dinner. 👏👏👏....
Read moreVery dissapointed! Restaurant was not busy, we arrived at 6:45pm on Saturday 20th Jan. Order was taken very quickly, starter took 30 minutes to arrive, the food was good. The main course took 49 minutes to arrive from the time the starter was cleared. When the food arrived, it was clear that it had been left in the oven for a long time. The top of each dish was congealed by the heat and the edges of the meats had dried out, with the top of the special rice baked solid. A very poor show.
We complained immediately and advised that we had waited so long that we would eat around the dryed out food but expected to be compensated. The reality was that we were unable to eat very much. The bill arrived and they had removed the cost of the main dishes but charged for the Nan, Rice and extras, all which accompanied a meal we were unable to consume.
I objected to a bill which would have been £120 for 2 adults and 2 children finally settling to pay £60.
Poor service and poor food, which is a real shame because...
