Lovely place but my steak was the worst i have ever had in a restaurant. Had the halloumi fries to start which were nice but dripping in oil having not been drained properly before serving so I had to mop up the oil with my napkin. Then came my steak! I always have a rib-eye as it’s my favourite cut and flavour is always great, it’s also a thick cut of meat so retains its moisture well and is always beautifully tender, so I ordered the 12oz ribeye, rare with the addition of the lobster tail. I was beyond shocked when my plate arrived with what can only be described as sandwich steak. A thin piece of meat no thicker that 4-5mm at most, which when I cut into it was at best well done with no sign of pink at all! The steak was also cold as the garlic butter on top refused to melt! The lobster tail was dry and tough and extremely small and having worked in many restaurants specialising in shell fish over the years, this was more like a langostino in size plus the shell was softer than a lobster shell. My daughter called over the waitress who agreed that the steak was too thin and that it would have been impossible to get a rare steak from such a thin cut of meat! She offered a replacement but by this time my daughter had nearly finished her meal so all I ate was the chips and I ate the “lobster” which was like tough rubber. I had to ask for the steak to be removed which was done so I ended up paying nearly £18 for a small portion of chips and rubber lobster! The manager made no attempt to come over and apologise and the waitress, though lovely, gave the impression that complaints are common and swept it under the carpet. I have been looking forward to going since receiving a voucher as a gift from my daughter for Christmas, so this was beyond disappointing and we will not be returning

Went here as a treat for my partner before they left the UK later in the day, ordered the crab and prawn starter, the salt and pepper squid starter which was laughable as when I attempted to eat the squid, the whole lot fell inside the oversized bucket it was served in!!! We also ordered the filet mingon surf and turf and I had the filet mignon with prawns however although I ordered one to be medium (surf and turf) and mine rare... This appeared to have been completely swapped around and the sauces ordered were also on the wrong plates... Fair enough my steak was swapped however by the time time it arrived my partner had finished... Dessert was good. Now all of the above may seem a bit picky however the price I paid for the meal £124 I would expect more, ie the steak to be prepared how one asks and serve the food in/on dishes that are fit for purpose for the food, I was eating in a quite well known Michelin starred pub with my partner just the week before and if I take off the cost of the bottle of wine, the bill at the Michelin starred pub WAS only £25 more THAN my bill at Miller and Carter moreover, we had eight or nine dishes and was completely satisfied in fullness as well as taste... My visit with my partner as a treat this afternoon has left me with the opinion that Miller and Carter are trying to be something that they aspire to be, without perhaps having sufficient staff or training in this restaurant to warrant the prices charged and especially not what one would essentially expect to pay for against the description being sold to you on the menu, had the food matched what I was asked to pay, then my review would have been of course completely different. Extremely disappointed visit.

Been many times in various locations of this steak house. Food is ok nothing awesome not horrible either. This time it was better than most of the time I’ve been there. Steak cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. Starters calamari was ok and garlic bread not memorable at all. Garnish for steak was ok-ish. Restaurant is trying to look like a nice please for your dates, family meeting and anniversaries but honestly there’s plenty of much nicer restaurants with similar price range. Much more memorable food and better looking restaurants. My biggest issue with Milers and Carters though is their staff that clearly doesn’t know their menu. Struggling to understand wine orders, making silly mistakes and unfortunately it’s repetitive in all locations. This is my biggest issue about this restaurant. You can clearly see that staff in not properly trained for the job. They are doing ok job but I always feel like they have no clue what I’m talking about when making drinks order. Overall it’s ok. I will be back mostly because my family members like to go there but me personally would never go there with my own decision. There is plenty better places within half an hour drive. It’s not vicious post just my honest opinion:)

Under-staffed!

Long waits - can't blame the staff at the coal face as they seemed to be running around like mad - not sure if they are always this under-staffed, or this was just an August Wednesday blip (though quite a few other reviews say the same thing...).

Took my elderly mother out for supper to a steakhouse for a change as they have great deals Monday-Wednesday - she quite liked it as something different (I take her out to a restaurant a couple of times every month).

Unfortunately they had run out of the mocktails we wanted to try (the deal was 'steak and a cocktail') so we tried two different ones (one was too sweet for me, the other definitely too bitter).

My ribeye steak was ordered medium-rare but was definitely the other side of medium (this includes according to their definition on their menu) - however it was tasty, we were hungry, and didn't want any further delays so I didn't send it back. The sirloin was ordered well-done and it was (and elderly mother definitely liked it!). The fries had evidently been standing around a bit before they were served to us...

Staff were generally very very friendly (though rushed off their feet), but one of the servers (very young) was a little sharp in her response to my legitimate question (definitely NOT the same level of customer service friendliness as her colleagues).

Including a reasonable tip the total price was just over £30 per head (note: we did NOT have any extra drinks, starters, or desserts).

Will we go back to this Miller & Carter? Possibly, but we will book extra early next time as we expect it will be ages (hour plus) before we get any food...

Other: there is lots of disabled parking (which is wonderful to see) which is close to the front door (when you have worked out where to go 'round the back'!) though it's a bit of a hunt to find this main disabled parking car park the first time.

Other 2: be warned - the EV Car Charger (BP ChargeMaster) is cursed, it failed on me the first three times (accepted the credit card, but had a connection error with the car), and you have to use a different credit card each attempt, so I now have 3 x £45 pre-authorisations. Another user of this car charger (apparently he uses it most days) told us how flaky it is compared...

This is a negative review mainly focused at the GM of this resteraunt. We booked for 8:15 so not late, we placed our order for starters and then tried to order mains, both my partner and I wanted Ribs, while ordering we were told theres no Ribs, asked the waitress to come back as we needed to find something else, she came back just as the starters arrived, ordered burger for me and scallops for my partner, after we finished our starters the waitress came back and said theres no scallops, my partner is Keto so limits what we can now order to just steak. I spoke to the AM and asked for a discount on ordering steak as its not what we wanted but left with no options now and we cant go anywhere else because we had eaten our starters already and my main was about to arrive. She said she would speak to the GM, in the meantime my main arrived, the AM came back and said the GM said no discount! We ordered the steak with no garnish, chips or anything, was charged full price -10% as we had a NHS Blue light card. The AM was nice as was the waitress, not their fault, this is completely on the General Manager, first, its his responsibility to make sure theres enough food ordered in for a Saturday night to not run out early evening (8pm), second, staff should be made aware of whats not available when seating guests so they have the option to leave if theres nothing suitable on the menu, third, the GM clearly has no respect for customers as he couldn't even speak to us directly, (hid behind his AM and clearly didn't care) last, as we were left with no choice with what we could order as we had not been given any warning of what wasnt available until after we had started our starters, we should have been given some kind of good will gesture I think, but its the first 3 points I've stated above to why im leaving this negative review, it was a terrible night, I had finished my main before my partners steak turned up, and the evening cost me £120 for food and drinks for 2 people, a burger and a single small...

VERY disappointing visit this time. We never had problems before as the food was always good and the staff very nice but yesterday completely opposite. We came with 3 little kids and a mother in law. My husband was trying to explain my daughter has several allergies and how we want a simple steak and chips for her. The waitress asked him to fill the form, which he did, and putting the allergens in which again is not giving you many options for food so again he said just simple steak without anything like butter… she didnt let him finish and asked what sauce we wants on the salad. He then said, can you please let me finish about the steak and we dont want any salad with any sauces she cant have so the waitress said: dont tell me how to do my job!! My husband said that she is being rude and he wanted to talk to the manager. And that conversation was even more dissapointing as the manager didnt see anything wrong as they have to follow the procedure and he should just sit down and dont escalate! Plus the waitress was telling my husband: thats not what happend, mate!! He is twice her age and not her mate for sure. Really shocking. We only stayed because we had little kids and a mother in law who is barely mobile and didnt want to make it hard on them and especially our daughter who has anxieties around food. We didn't want her to know there was any problem itherwise we would have left! The food was nice and the second waitress too but we will never come again!! Another manager came after and started explaining they need to follow the procedures and apparently my husband didn’t want to fill the form. We said: you dont understand! We like the procedure, she just didnt listen and was rude and blinded by procedure didnt care what we are saying and same was the manager, like they never understood customer service principals: be nice and polite...
