The two small onion bhajis cost £1.80 each and were a texture more than a flavour. The prawn purée was a handful of shrimps nestling in a stultifyingly bland sauce. The chicken jalfrezi was extraordinary in the toughness of the meat and the lack of spices and chilli heat. It was uncooked chicken, though admittedly breast meat, served in a brown gravy with a few desultory bits of capsicum thrown on top. The problem of being a monopoly within a village environment is that the quality of food and service are never challenged by competition which leads to a massive drop in standards. There cannot be much further for this restaurant to drop as it appears to be rock bottom already. Massive overpricing compared to London's curry houses and a very poor service crowned this experience and has lead me to heartily recommend going anywhere but...
Really enjoyed my first visit to New Akash restaurant on Great Missenden high street. Extensive menu covering a wide range of chicken and lamb dishes. The chicken balti was the best I have tasted and spiced perfectly for me. I am so glad I chose the special fried rice as it was really tasty. And I just had to try the Ferrero Roche chocolate dessert. My son enjoyed his chicken curry too but my husband thought his lamb was a little tough. We all enjoyed our starters and poppadoms.
