Even though Iāve lived in Peterborough for many years, Iād never been into the OāNeillās pub in town until a few years ago, but my first experience of the place was great; really good staff, food, and wide selection of drinks. However, each subsequent time Iāve been to this place, the quality of everything has diminished. The staff members are constantly changing (and the majority of them in the past few months are downright horrible to the customers); the selection of available draught beers keeps changingā¦and usually the staff havenāt changed the barrels, so the draught beer isnāt available anyway! I decided to give OāNeillās in Peterborough another chance to redeem itself today (my girlfriend wanted to buy me lunch for my birthday), but the experience was absolutely awful. The current Manager of the place is a very unpleasant and grumpy person, and should not be working in a Customer Service environment. My partner and me sat at a table that was āstickyā with old beer residue (totally unhygienic), and we couldnāt tell what table ānumberā we were sitting at because the metal number plate had been removed (possibly by vandals); but when I went to the bar to order some food and drinks, the awful Manager told me that they had no lagers on tap, and I would have to be satisfied with IPA beer, or nothing at all, and he said thatā¦āif I didnāt know the number of the table I was sitting atā, then he wouldnāt be able to tell the waitress where to take the foodā¦.(even though itās the fault of the staff at OāNeillās for not replacing the missing metal table number symbol on the table!)
My girlfriend and I decided to go elsewhere for our lunch, and we will not be going back to OāNeillās again. Utterly horrible Management, awful customer service, unhygienic, and almost all beers are...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePathetic! My friends and I travelled to this pub in Peterborough, specifically to sing at their karaoke this evening, only to be turned away as I was wearing what they called "jogging bottoms"! I have actually travelled from the Isle of Wight to see my friend, for a few days,.mainly so that we could take in a couple of local karaokes, so you can imagine how annoyed we were, and disappointed not to be allowed in, based purely on what I was wearing. After having 2 strokes, I cannot wear anything too tight fitting, and that's why I wear what I do. I've not know such a ridiculous dress code since the 1980s. Does wearing what I do, immediately make me a troublemaker? Needless to say, we won't be going there again, which is a great shame, as we both sing semi- professionally. To add insult to injury, we arrived at 8pm, only to be told that the fire alarm sounding next door meant that they couldn't open until it was sorted. Rather than just leaving at that time, we chose to wait in a nearby pub to wait and see if it opened, once the alarm was sorted out. Why the fcuk weren't we told then, that I would not be allowed in, if it opened? NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE A TALENT FOR SINGING AND A HEALTH CONDITION. THIS PLACE WOULD NOT ALLOW WALLACE AND GROMMIT IN, IF THEY WERE WEARING THE WRONG...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for a lunchtime meal before going to the theatre, it was just after midday , 2 ladies were sitting in the window eating fish and chips , the food looked lovely so we went in , unfortunately there was no fish and chips left so we opted for pie and triple cooked chips , the lady that took our order was delightful ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ however what we got wasnāt ! No way were the chips triple cooked , the pie I had ,had about 2 pieces of meat in it which were horrible, the vegetables were microwaved , nothing wrong in cooking the frozen vegetables in the microwave , so they were ok , we really didnāt eat much of it .Four people came in and sat next to us , they all wanted fish and chips , I did say that the 2 ladies behind had the last 2 portions, they looked at our plates ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ and walked out ! It was such a disappointment, felt we had wasted Ā£20 . Having said all that the lady who served us was lovely so was the glass of wine and the gin & tonic , thatās what the...
