Olivello — Restaurant in England

I visited Olivello's today with my colleagues to celebrate the teams one year anniversary. The decor very nice, Service initially was OK, Food terrible!!!!! As we do when asked if everything is ok at the start of the meal, all nodded politely, after a few minuets it was clear none of us where enjoying the meal. The main issue with all the dishes was the chicken, it looked like chopped reformed prepacked chicken. Very bland. 4 out of the 5 of us left at least half of our meals. The server asked was everything ok, we politely said there was an issue with the chicken. The server at this point was very unhelpful/rude, We asked to speak to the manager, a man came to the table and told us there can not be anything wrong with our meals as we did not tell them straight away he shouted very loud that he thinks we have eaten the food and now dont want to pay, 4 out of the 5 meals he could see had not been eaten, he went on to compare the chicken served in Olivello to other restaurants in Middlesbrough and continued to tell us we can not make such comments at the end of a meal. We pointed out that we just wanted to make them aware that the chicken was not great and maybe he could let the chef know this. By the end of the discussion he offered us a discount that was 20% when the bill arrived however this was not the point, in the service industry id expect a much better level of service a simple apology and maybe the offer of a drink or desert would have been declined but a nice gesture instead we where shouted at and made to feel as if we didn't want to pay our bill!!!!! Not good Olivello, the food was less than average and the service even worse!!!!!! This is one restaurants we will not...

Booked a celebratory meal for my girlfriends graduation, 9 of us in total, staff were very friendly and helpful. Cocktails were made incorrectly however looked very appealing and tasted just okay, mojito was clearly made with a lot of packaged lime juice as well as the standard muddled limes for example. The tables starters where all good and went down really well. However were a bit of a let down. 1 hour and 18 minutes after we arrived at the venue we got our food, unfortunately, the 2 fillet steaks asked for medium rare come and where closer to medium well. She offered to get us 2 new steaks to which we agreed and where initially told we would have to wait 5 minutes, this wasn’t an issue and we were happy to wait 5-10 minutes for the steak to be cooked to our liking. Unfortunately 10 minutes later we were told it would be another 10 minutes and we were offered a free drink each. Unfortunately the cocktails we got where substandard, and most of the table had finished eating, we waited 35 minutes in total for the new steaks, this is backed up by time stamped photos, the steak again was over cooked however we didn’t have want to wait any longer for our food. The food tasted good and the front of house staff did what they could but ultimately we paid full price for everything and 2 of us started eating after other plates had been cleared. Ok. I'm really NOT the whiney vegan that everyone automatically envisages as soon as they hear the V word. I truly am grateful to any establishment that agrees to accommodate my diet choice. Rang a week in advance and was told there was a separate specific Vegan menu. Happy days. Arrived tonight as a party of 6. Requested the Vegan menu for 2 of us in the party. Then told this menu didn't exist (it's 2018 chaps - with veganism set to be this year's food trend. And you've just opened a restaurant with no options? - I digress) Was told by our waitress, and the manager that our allergies (?!) Could be catered to. Chose items from the existing menu that appeared to be vegan friendly from their titles and descriptions (potatoes skins, and veg tomato pasta dish - as didn't want to be any bother) The waitress wrote VEGAN on the order slip so that the chef was fully aware. Our mains arrived after a lengthy wait. Covered in parmesan cheese? They had to be returned. Another in our party ordered a chicken burger which took longer to arrive than our second offering of pasta. She was offered 1 drink for her inconvenience. Which she declined as she was driving. This mix up / delay in our order made us late for our intended night out even though we were booked in for 5:30. Adequate food....
