*URGENT UPDATE I decided to leave some information for other people who may have been wondering about the lake for fishing, As I've been looking and had no joy.
Anyway, So thought I'd try fishing the lake today, As been wanting to for some time, I had my doubts as I hadn't seen anyone fishing for a few years. And the only review's or information I could find was posted back in 2017 when the lake seemed to be somewhat popular, However digging abit further I came to find that in 2013-2015 it seemed to be in it's hay day when new lake record was set of a carp around the 30bls mark, However I did find a video on YouTube of a carp being spotted in the lake and that was posted in 2020 as well as word of mouth of carp being spotted only 3 month ago,
So back to my fishing trip I must admit I think I was right in believing that there's not much to get exited about, I had no luck what so ever, I was there from 11 till 4 and not one bite 🙁 there is zero signs of any fish whatsoever It's a shame as the water is crystal clear however the lake is full of weeds/rubbish that are so thick you get snagged up constantly! Minefield.
It's great for the boating side of things and the park itself is lovely just no joy...
Read moreI've visited Albert Park from being a youngster. Like everything it has changed over the years. It has a large lake where lots of wild birds reside. When not in lockdown it sells ready prepared bags of bird feed. It has a cafe next to the lake, public toilets. At certain times of the year you can hire a rowing boat. They have reinstated the roller rink, which was a big part of the attraction when I was a youngster. There's more than one designated children's playgrounds. There's a bowling green. There's a walkway that circles the inner circumference of Albert Park. Lots of runners and walkers use this. There is signage to let you know how much distance you have covered. There's a Band Stand, a fountain, flower garden, commemerative statues and plaques around the park. To finish or start off Dorman Museum is just outside the main gates. At the main gates is the commemerative wall with the names of soldiers who lost their lives to help us in remaining a free nation. You can see the more upto date commemerative statues of the soldiers who have lost their lives since then. These are opposite the entrance to...
Read moreAmazing park, has ample space. This park has two separate play parks. It also haa a beautiful lake which you can go on a rowing boat. We attended the park to do the Parkrun that is meld nearly every Saturday at 09.00am where you can walk or run 5k. The park is always clean from any rubbish or dog poo. The parks are of a good standard with a variety of play equipment from swing, sea saw, slides and climbing frames. Both parks are fenced in for some added security. There is a toilet block near the younger kids park which are always quite grubby There are however toilets in the cafe / visitors center way are always clean and tidy and smell fresh. There is also a rollerblading track behind there although I'm not too sure when that is open. The staff on site are friendly and approachable. It's a great park with a lot of history. A few minutes walk from the park is The Dorman Museum which was free entry last time we went, that's also...
