Ordered food through just eat as my partner and I wanted something different and these looked good. We ordered our food said it'll be 40 mins and around 1 hour and 30 mins the app was still saying "preparing order" i called up the boro shop and asked where my order was (if they were struggling for drivers i would have just picked it up)and the bloke told us "I've just given it to the driver, he'll be 10 mins" ok great.... Another 30 mins went by no food... Called back annoyed as it was over two hours i placed the order to be told "the food is here waiting for a driver to get it!" I told them if its been say there for an hour it'll be cold and just give be a refund and cancel the order. They just responded "sort it with just eat" and put the phone down. I ordered something else as we were starving. 10 mins later the craft burger driver turned up and i refused to take it. He just left it on the doorstep and walked off. And yes when we looked at the food it was ice cold and it was sat that long the cardboard box was leaking out grease. I wanted to give this place a shot but the fact they lied, saying its with the driver (stopping us from getting it) and then refused to refund us I'll never order from them again. Appalling service.
EDIT: following the review i made above, craft burger offered to remake the meal which I took them up on. The food arrived fast, it tasted good and threw in a few extras as an apology. If this is the normal standard from craft burgers, I would happily order from them again. I appreciate that they fixed a...
Read moreThe hunt for decent food in Middlesbrough continues, unfortunately Craft Burger was not the one.
From the outside it looks nice enough, inside isn’t too bad, although stacks of drinks in the public areas is never a good look.
We went to order, “it’s cash only”, the cry of far too many Teesside businesses (I can’t imagine why) and myself and my partner ordered an Oklahoma Burger and a Heatwave Chicken Sandwich, both with fries, cheese sauces and a drink as meals and an additional portion of Tater Tots.
The burger was soggy, and bland, it tasted (very) cheap and the onions were awful. Very very poor, and definitely disappointing.
The chicken sandwich was better, it had more substance to it, and maybe even more oddly, it tasted a little like a Fillet o’ Fish from McDonalds, which I didn’t hate, but was unexpected.
The fries were solid enough, quite powdery inside, not really hot, but crisp enough. Wouldn’t go back for them, but would eat them again.
The tater tots were a disaster. They were crispy, but they just tasted of grease and oil, not potato. Unpleasant.
The cheese sauces weren’t as hot as you’d expect either.
Overall, very poor and impossible to recommend. The chicken sandwich was the best of the lot, I’d give that a 6/10, but everything else is much lower. Also the seat my partner sat on, the booth opposite the counter, was broken.
Whilst it’s cheap, it wasn’t cheerful, and I’ve had better burgers off a match day van (sober!) so save your money and go...
Read moreWe had two burgers and they were soggy — my ‘Shroomz’ burger had barely any mushrooms on it and those that were on there were scrappy bits. All of the meat (including the stir-fried donner, chilli beef on fries and burger patties) tasted incredibly cheap. If you’re looking for a burger with flavour, you’d be better off finding a van at a car boot sale. The donner in particular was just disgusting, poorly-seasoned and dripping with grease. The ‘chilli cheesy beef’ addition to the fries was absolutely not worth the upcharge, there was a dribble of cheese on it if any and as previously mentioned the meat tasted cheap.
The drinks selection consists of budget copies of branded drinks despite many of their advertising images containing the branded versions — this seems like an unnecessary corner cut for a restaurant that’s clearly using low-quality ingredients yet costing upwards of £30 for a decent meal for two.
The macaroni cheese bites were nice but are displayed onto the website to be a much larger portion compared to the four small sticks we got.
The Kinder Bueno milkshake was nice.
All in all, I wouldn’t consider ordering from here again as there are much better alternatives for smash burgers in Middlesbrough that are cheaper but don’t cut corners when it comes to quality (Yum Yum). For £40 you’d at least expect a...
