Security guards stand outside the pub intimidating and harassing people as they go past sometimes with other people and customers they know and the security guards ban people from the pub and dont allow people back into the pub if they go outside the front for a cigarette or just go outside the front and the people and customers join in a snarl and sneer and say nasty things to you and swear at you and the staff and employees who claim to be managers tell the security guards to throw out random people for no reason and bar staff and managers stand watching and smiling and stare at customers intimidatingly as they walk in and to the bar and to a seat or to the toilet and customers do the same and security and staff and managers all say they don't care and the police tell them to do it and say the police dont care and won't do anything and laugh at you and say the police tell them they can do what they want. Managers and employees all say its up to the security guards what they do and say whatever they decide to do we have to go with it and the security guards say we can do whatever they want. Security guards hang around outside sometimes with fairly large groups of people stood around either being asked to leave for no reason or not allowed back in because they have gone out of the pub or because they are friends with the security guards. Its very intimidating as you walk in if you are allowed in or if you are walking past, its like a gangsters paradise. Sometimes a Customer is not allowed back in the pub if they go outside the front of the pub and sometimes their bags and belongings and drinks are still inside and if they complain they get aggressive and say you are barred and all the friends hanging around talking with the security guards or staff and the people claiming to be a manager, sometimes customers claim they are managers and landlords, stand and stare at you and snarl at you and say nasty things and say nastily ' yeah get out' or swear at you. Everytime you go to the bar to buy a drink or when you go in the next day or a couple of days later they charge you more than last time for the same drink and if you ask why they tell you that its always been that price or the price has gone up or that the price has JUST gone up or that it costs more for a drink today or it costs more at the weekend or on a friday or a saturday or Sunday depending on what day it is and sometimes they charge around £1 or £2 more for the same drink. Sometimes they short change you. Sometimes they charge a couple of pounds more as well as short change you. They say that they are allowed to do...
Read moreExtremely Disappointing Experience at The Hideout in Derby
I visited The Hideout in Derby with my family following my cousins graduation on November 16th at around 1:30 pm. Despite the quiet atmosphere and an almost empty restaurant, we encountered a shocking lack of service and professionalism.
Upon entering, no one approached us for 10 minutes, so I went to the bar to inquire about service. To my surprise, I was informed that it was bar service only, despite the emptiness of the restaurant. The bar staff, including a person named Harrison, showed no interest in welcoming us or acknowledging our presence.
Harrison's response to our dissatisfaction was both rude and dismissive. He even suggested we could "go somewhere else." When challenged to repeat what he said whilst I was walking away he quickly denied it by lying that he was on the phone (might look young but wasn't born yesterday). This unacceptable behavior, coupled with the impractical policy, led our entire party, including a group of 20 friends and their friends and relatives that were going to join us choose the Nando's across the road.
While I understand the desire for a bar feel, in quiet moments, staff should actively approach customers to explain the policy, as it is not evident anywhere in the establishment. The lack of acknowledgment, poor service, and disrespectful response left us deeply dissatisfied.
I strongly recommend reconsidering this policy, especially during low-traffic times, and providing training on customer service, specifically for staff like Harrison. This experience was not only unprofessional but also resulted in the redirection of over 20 potential customers. Be smart and find out when graduations are taking place in town and adapt over your service to accommodate families looking for a celebratory meal after graduation.
The episode has left a lasting negative impression, which is unfortunate especially on a celebratory occasion like a graduation and I definitely won't be returning. I don't usually leave reviews but felt specifically compelled to share this experience to discourage others from facing a similar disappointment and rethink this damaging policy. Make...
Read moreDo not recommend at all! Spent 187.50 for awful brunch. Lacey was great, she is the only reason they get 2 stars. When we arrived we waited 10 minutes to be seated, one of us then had to wipe seats before sitting as they were dirty. The manager came over to seat us and seemed confused, like they weren't expecting us, when I showed him our confirmation of booking a week prior. He then went and cleaned a table for us, and came by 5 minutes after cleaning it to seat us, then walked away, mind you its a bottomless brunch and it is now 25 minutes past our booking time. After we waiting for about 10 minutes I went to the bar to try and order drinks, the other person at the bar, seemed like another manager, was not the nicest when saying its bottomless brunch your server will sort you, I said we haven't had anyone ask, he asked me who my server was, I said I don't know as we were seated and left. The service the entire time wasn't the nicest, I understand they were busy but by this point I was already a bit annoyed. Sparing more detail throughout the brunch, when I went to pay I was told it was already paid for, at which point I could have left as I thought someone at our table might have paid, but I asked them to check and they realised this wasn't the case. They then almost over charged me and realised the deposit I had paid upon booking wasn't taken off the total bill after me showing them i paid it. This took a while and some checking by multiple people to sort out. It took me about 10 minutes to pay for the brunch, we were already leaving 25 minutes early because we had had enough. I know this might seem rude, I was just annoyed because I had booked a week prior for a birthday, for 5 people, so it cost me £187.50 and the service and and how we were treated was awful. Lacey was a lovely server and clearly tried to make up for it but everyone else was not at all. They did not speak to us very nicely and didnt seem to know what was going on half the time. I will not...
