Have been coming to this cafe for years,it has spectacular views and really that's why everyone goes. We holiday in this part of Cornwall every year at least once. This year, the staff are unfriendly and somewhat haughty, we were given a singular little sachet of salt with our fish and chips,my son asked for another and the waitress rolled her eyes at him. The fish and chips were swimming in vegetable oil, small piece of fish, cheap frozen french fries and a spoon of peas. Another visit one of the party had the ploughman's lunch, basically two small pieces of very bland non descript cheese when I asked the waitress what cheeses were in it she said a yellow one and an orange one! You also got a bit of salad,a pickle, small bit if relish and half a very small baguette (french type stick) which had been toasted for some reason. I think it was £10.50.I asked if I could please have a bit more bread and was told it was another pound! There's no welcome, no friendliness, they have amazing views and it's a good job because the food is very poor and their attitude is dreadful. I watched as an elderly gentleman asked for the toilets and was told he would have to go up the ( very steep) hill and use the ones on the national trust car park (a good fifteen minute walk away for him) yet they have a toilet they just won't let customers use it! Last year the waitress who doesn't seem to be there anymore, she was older, friendly and gave the dogs treats said quick use it now whilst the boss isn't looking they don't want customers using it! How can you run a busy cafe with no toilet facilities or anywhere for people to wash their hands? We've now started going to Wave crest just a bit farther up, spectacular views and the food and welcome couldn't be more different plus they let you...

We dropped in at this cafe today to shelter from the rain and have a pot of tea. The people working there didn't like this much. First, one of the girls came along and pointedly asked if we'd like to order something extra. Then, a man asked us to leave as we were taking up table space and it was lunchtime (this was at 2pm). Then another girl came along, asked if we were going to order anything else, and cleared our stuff away. She said I could settle up by paying her, which I said was fine, then she walked off without giving me chance to pay. Then the man returned and said look, you've been here too long and just ordered one tea. I asked him if we could get a discount for the rudeness of the staff. He said no. I told him I wasn't going to pay anything then. He told us to 'piss off', then engaged in a conversation with another customer complaining about the length of time we'd been sat at the table. He said we'd only come in to get out of the rain, as if visiting a cafe when it was raining was an entirely new concept to him. He also said we were taking up a table for four people, even though it was so close to the table next to us there was no way four people could sit there. I asked him to repeat what he said so that other people could hear how he treated his customers. He said 'you heard' and refused.

There's another cafe at Lizard Point, I recommend that you go there instead. The staff (or maybe even the owner) at Polpeor clearly have nothing but contempt for...

Now, I'll start by confessing that me and my partner usually frequent the other cafe at the point. But their recent change in menu led us to try out Polpeor.

Straight away, the experience was a memorable one. Weve been on holiday around Devon and Cornwall all week and this was the first eatery, nee - first outlet full stop to: A) take our temperature B) wear face masks and visors C) clean down menus as they were passed back or used by a group D) thoroughly clean the tables and chairs before each group And most importantly, E) Welcomed each customer with open arms....well sort of ;)

The speed of service and price was spot on they were positive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

Its fair to say that on each of our future visits to the lizard, we will be sure to return as much as possible.

Fantastic cafe, wonderful staff, lovely food, served right on time, as you'd expect, and with every covid protection possible.

Genuinely lovely experience. Stay safe all, and...

Peaceful and picturesque view from the cafe. Staff are attentive, without being intrusive. Reasonable choice of seafood and non-seafood items. It got busy from 13:00, so I would advise arriving for lunch at midday.

A group of 11 of us visited Polpeor cafe last Saturday, during the school holidays and on a lovely sunny day. Needless to say it was very busy. We were lucky with our timing and managed to get a terrace table over looking probably one of the best views in Cornwall, out over Lizard point. Despite there being so many of us, and the inevitable indecision over our orders the lady that served us (a local girl who was back for the summer whilst studying at UCL towards her bachelor's) was very friendly and helpful. She managed to sort out order out even though we must have been tricky to serve, and was super friendly despite obviously being very busy. I wanted to write an email to the owner to say what a credit this person is to their business but there doesnt appear to be any contact details. The food was lovely, the prices are decent and I will look forward to coming back the next time we in the area. Special thanks to the person who served us that day and best of luck with your studies.
