Staff was rushed (not a busy time at all when we came in). They rushed through the ordering part and this caused a massive miscommunication. I had ordered the "local catch" on the fish menu and pointed at it (the most expensive dish on the menu) I mistakenly called it "catch of the day" which is understandable as English is not my first language.
I only realised they did not understand what I ordered when I got served fish and chips, I politely pointed it out. All the staff was able to make up as a response was "well if you said catch of the day that's what you ordered". By that point I didn't want to make a scene and accepted defeat. The fish was nice but very oily. The chips were disgraceful, the peas inedible and the tartare sauce embarrassing. My husband got the stake, £32 of stake for 5 slices that were so thin they could've called it carpaccio and 5 sweet potato chips with no flavour whatsoever.
The food, the service and the lack of touch with dealing with a tricky situation left us with a bad taste in our mouth. What a shame, it looked like a...
Read moreI just tried to call the Hotel/Restaurant to book an Afternoon tea for 1 person outside to enjoy this weekend sunshine and I was told that they don’t do Afternoon tea for 1 person 😳! He then added what ‘Afternoon tea’ you are after and I said the one on the website for £19.50. I was put on hold to then be told the correct price is £22.50 and they don’t do for 1 person. I must say I was speechless. Shame as I was really looking forward to trying this place after the reviews. And I include a screenshot of the website prices for the Management Team! It’s unfortunate that some staff members can truly affect the image of a hotel/restaurant. Quick update, after my review the hotel contacted me and I was hoping they would confirm that this was a mistake but instead as per email screenshot they confirmed that Afternoon Tea can only be for two due ‘to reduce wastage’!!! I...
Read moreAbsolute gem of a hotel/restaurant. Everyone there were so lovely and welcoming, the food was phenomenal and the views were breathtaking. Our evening was made all the more special by our wonderful waiter who gave us a great wine recommendation and was so attentive! We were the last ones in the restaurant and at no point did we feel rushed to leave. Can't thank the team enough for such an amazing experience. We very much look forward to coming back!
(Just as a side note we had 3 courses each and a bottle of wine for just over £70 per person, very reasonably priced especially as we had the scallops and crab for starters, the market fish for mains and a cheese course and ginger sticky toffee pudding for dessert. We also shared a bottle of wine and...
