Left with mixed feelings about our visit to the Posthorn in Leyburn. The food itself was good but we had a real faff with the order for one of our group!
They ordered a toasted tea cake and when the food was brought out they were presented with a toasted fruit scone - when they explained they didn’t order that the waitress commented she thought it was a strange order as it’s not even on the menu! These things happen so we didn’t mind and the waitress went off for a toasted tea cake, however when she returned the second time we were presented with a chicken tikka masala! (Much to the amusement of people sitting nearby who’d seen what was happening)
I’d not mark any establishment down for one mistake on an order as these thing’s easily happen and it’s hardly the end of the world. What grated here wasn’t so much the two mistakes for a simple order but the actions of the staff about it. They didn’t seem amused to have gotten the order wrong twice, so to try and lighten the mood I said not to worry as it had given us a giggle, to which the waitress rolled her eyes and walked off!! By the time we received the toasted tea cake the others in our group had finished their food and drinks so I’m guessing the wait for the correct item was 15-20 minutes in total.
So in a nutshell the food is ok but the staff need to try a little harder to take the order correctly (or not react quite so displeased when they...

We were approached by the owner who stood in front of us and abruptly said these seats are for my customers and not for people who are not purchasing from my coffee shop and told us to use the public seating else where in the market square I really did not see a problem sitting in the seats after all nobody was using them and no signage to say you cudnt sit there this man is the most rudist person we have came across on our holiday to layburn area you should be ashamed treating disabled pensioners like that iv never been so upset and humiliated just remember it's visitors to your town that keeps your shop open n I'm just pleased we didn't purchase your tea totally disgusted in your manner all you had to do was say sorry guys this is for customers only not show us up the way you did Regards 2 disabled...
Read moreDisappointed. Visit quite often with no problems . Took my sister in who hadn’t been for a year and we have enjoyed several previous visits . We had Bacon and Brie Ciabatta which was rather tasteless with little bacon and the Brie sliced 2mm thick . Plate full of lettuce with scant little else , no dressing and sweetcorn !!!!! Bread itself was poor . Partner had bacon sandwich brown bread , a regular wherever we go ! His was small with less than generous portion of bacon . He commented quite the worst he’d had anywhere for some time. So all 3 of us had a poor experience. Clearly economising on portions . When my sister was checking out , and asked if all ok - she politely pointed out a few things and cook was quite rude , intimidating and defensive , saying he had put the usual 2 slices of Brie in the sandwich and he would tell the chef!! He WAS the chef!!!! RUDE man Agreed , he did put 2 slices in however it WAS paper thin. When paying prices similar to elsewhere I’d expect...
