Pride Of Bridlington — Restaurant in England

Visited last Sunday. Was really looking forward to fish n chips due to all the five star reviews on Google, and had worked up a real appetite during the day. Was very disappointed. First the good points. Fish was cooked to order and pricing was ok for a seaside resort. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The bad. The fish was covered in a very thick bland oily batter. The chips were also very oily with oil gathering in pools in the paper. Portion of chips also on small side. Curry sauce was a good consistency but lacked flavour. The big problem was the taste of the oil which everything was dripping in. It tasted horrible. For the first time ever i stopped eating the fish n chips and threw them away, less than half eaten. The taste was just too horrible. Worse was the after taste it left us with. I can only guess the oil was old Ended up picking up the rest of dinner at a petrol station services to fill up and try to get rid of the horrible after taste. Massive Fail! Recent visits have been disappointing not having any large fish left on my last 3 visits! On one visit i decided not to have nothing if they didn’t have what i wanted I’m not still giving them money for something i didn’t want in the first place right? Me adding pictures of large fish did me no favours as continuity died for me not been able to order what i wanted! So my excellent last review is been changed due to soggy batter on a medium fish i didn’t really want anyway but they just made it worse by soggy watery batter inside! 😱 i received tonight! Plus tasted funny so i don’t think it was haddock? 🤷🏼‍♂️ unless the undercooked batter made it taste funny.🤷🏼‍♂️ Waste of a tenner for curry and chips! We have visited Bridlington today as a school with 60 children and 7 adults. Pride of Bridlington took a prior booking for portions of fish &chips, sausage and chips etc. 67 in total, with forks and a carton of juice for every child. The food was then delivered to us at South Shore Park and Ride at the time requested. Communication throughout has been brilliant and the food was tasty and delicious. Needless to say there wasn’t an awful lot left.The kids and staff loved it. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything and we would highly recommend that you visit this fish and chip shop. Nothing was too much trouble.
