This quirky museum is free and absolutely fascinating! The information is set over several floors , each accessed by a narrow spiral stone staircase plus guide rope. It is not for the front hearted or for anyone with balance or mobility issues (I was wearing a longish dress and had to hitch it up to avoid tripping). There’s lots of information about the development of the local area and its history but the section which I found most interesting was about medals with many fine sets from local people. One of the other sections has Bridlington postcards including the one with the donkey in a hat (if you know, you know😹) Very helpful guides there. No refreshments or toilet facilities ( too tiny !) but public toilets are about 100 yards away. I will visit again when next in the Old Town as there was just so much that I couldn’t take in all of the information. I combined this visit with a trip to Bridlington Priory which is less than a...

We loved this little museum .It is chocka block full of interesting facts. l found it very interesting and as a lot of exhibition is visual and well set out it was relaxing to go around. There are stone steps which are steep to climb as you enter but in opposite side its a wooden staircase to come down.It wasn't over busy when we went so could take our time looking and reading about the exhibitions. Its a great place to go on a wet day ! The gentleman watching over the museum was extremely friendly and knowledgeable .He 8nteracted with us and shared more information about the building once he realised l was interested in the building of it.Excellent couple of hours well spent It's free although we did...

Being the gatehouse of the great priority, it's an odd space, and with a tight spiral staircase forcing the whole place to be a one-way experience...

And that means you don't know what's coming up (even if you already read the leaflet) so it's tricky to manage your time. We thought an hour should do it -- or be more than enough for our 9 & 12 yr olds -- but we could easily have spent longer! There's so much eclectic stuff crammed in here.

The staff on hand were also not only helpful but...

The bayle Museum is an excellent attraction, full of interesting objects and historical artefacts from Bridlington. It is a much bigger museum than it appears from the outside. Amongst the objects on display is a collection of robert Thompson (the mouseman) furniture with the famous mouse carved on the tables and chairs. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There is so much to see you can spend a lot more time in here than you planned. It is free to enter. Highly recommended.

Visitors to Bridlington and all locals should visit this gem of a museum, it's free and packed full of interesting exhibits. There are interactive boards for children and all were working when we visited. An unusual occurence in museums. Access is by a tight spiral staircase but friendly staff are on hand to help and advise. Allow at least an hour for a visit in this 'tardis' building.
