On a recent camping trip to Somerset, our family recently had the pleasure of dining at the Ring 'o' Bells in Wookey, and it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent, and the meal exceeded our expectations.
We visited the restaurant with our two daughters and son. The generous portions and the choice on offer surprised me for such a quiet, unassuming pub tucked away in a quiet corner of the village. The children ordered the Lamb Steak, Sirloin, and RibEye Steak, and they devoured every bite. They had a good attempt at the sides, too, but couldn't quite finish it all! The quality of the meat was outstanding, and it was cooked to perfection. The fact that even the children enjoyed their meals speaks volumes about the quality of the food.
The desserts were equally delightful, and our entire family savoured every last spoonful. The variety of options made it difficult to choose, but we were not disappointed with our selections. The flavours were rich and indulgent, ending our meal on a high note.
What stood out to us even more was the specials board. The range of options available was impressive, and my husband and I couldn't resist trying two of the dishes. The Pork Rib special was divine - tender, succulent, and flavorful. The portion size was exceptionally generous, and we certainly left the restaurant completely satisfied.
On top of the incredible food, the service we received was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and attended to our every need. Their friendly and attentive nature was a pleasant surprise and greatly enhanced our dining experience.
Overall, our visit to the Ring 'o' Bells was a delightful surprise. The exceptional food, generous portions, and outstanding service exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Wookey or the surrounding area. Don't miss out on...
Read moreA tale of two halves really, visited this pub twice while away, which is a lovely pub, first night I had a rib eye steak, my wife had cod loin with prawns, both meals excellent, followed by sticky toffee pudding which we agreed was probably the best we had ever had, we enjoyed it so much we booked for Sunday dinner which was not to the standard of the night before, don't get me wrong, it was nice but clear it is a roast that is already prepared then warmed up, good size dinner, the meat was lovely but the Yorkshire pudding was as thin as a rizla and snapped when we cut into it, no substance at all, now we both love Yorkshire pudding but this really was ineadable, we noticed the couple on the next table left theirs as well, it tasted old and oily which was disappointing as the rest of the meal was fine, I don't think it will put us off going back for a meal as our original one was great but Sunday dinner, we will go somewhere else next time, it was also disappointing that a couple were sat at the bar not caring about the language they were using in front of families with small children and being allowed to vape in front of bar staff which I thought was not...
Read moreA traditional village country pub, still retains its 14th century features with huge fireplaces at each end of bar / restaurant. Atmosphere is friendly and welcoming with most of the customers being local. Well worth a diversion off the "B" road to go into the historic village and drop in for coffee, lunch or supper. Even as a local myself I would still book a table for dinner even midweek, don't assume it will be quite and sleepy. There's a large bar and seating inside and out, Tonight 3 of us went for traditional pub grub supper, terrific ! Proper size plates, proper homemade meals with hot food up to the rim. Proper job ! as they say a bit further West. Despite thinking "I'll never eat that much" half hour later I'm mopping the plate with my last chip, but couldn't manage a dessert. Everything a British country village pub should be , untouched...unlike by those made over fake townie pubs. P.s can't really comment on veggie or other other preferences did notice Gluten free. Accessibility, there is a step up but plenty of locals and farmers to help manhandle...
