I was presently surprised by robin's farm. We ordered online with no problems at all. The restaurant was tucked away right off the road, we would never have found it without sat nav but that was the only problem we had.
The outside of the restaurant is clean and cheerful with plenty of parking and designated parking for disabled customers.
We were shown to our table by a diligent staff member, he knew where the table was and we were instructed to pay at the bar.
We were under the misconception that my wife's blue light card was valid for discount on a Sunday, the woman at the bar was polite and explained that Sunday was the only day the 20% discount was unavailable. I found the prices to be reasonable in any case but we worked out that our total meal with the discount would have been around £30 for two adults and two children.
Myself and my wife had the carvery which in my opinion is why anyone should be going there, and our kids had childrens options.
The carvery, with 3 meat and only one type of roast potato, (pictures show other options) is quite simple and limited, but what robin's farm does it does well and with good value. I personally really enjoyed the meal and came away fully satisfied with the experience.
We were visited several times by Donna, who was waiting our table, she was very friendly and showed an interest in engaging our children which is always a nice gesture. I did visit the play area but my children were too old to use it. I would say it would be better for under 8yrs.
We didn't have dessert.
We didn't visit the toilets on this occasion.
There looked to be good disabled facilities.
We are definitely going to return to robin's farm, the price is reasonable, the food is tasty and there is something for everyone, the staff are very welcoming and it made a really good...
Read moreWe’ve been here a few times now, each time come away happy and full belly’s. Today we arrived- we were told there was no carvery left (no problem we will just have the main menu) went to order and told no steak and a few other things. (Ok we will just pick something else to have). Food came which wasn’t ours a few times. When our food did arrive it was missing coleslaw on all plates that was supposed to have it. When I asked I was told they had “run out, they didn’t get a delivery yesterday” I Said would it not have been polite to tell the customer? I paid for 3 meals of which were all missing coleslaw (yes just coleslaw, but when it’s expected to come out with your meal) The male of which apparently I wasn’t allowed to know his name (strange that, I believe he was in the kitchen) was incredibly rude - no apology what so ever. I merely stated he may as well take my dinner back as I felt very cross at that point that no apology had been made - he said “what just because your missing a bit of coleslaw” Wow! I was shocked. I then had to ask him for forks so we could actually eat. Again he walked back with forks , no apology no eye contact just pure rude.
We choose not to have pudding due to the poor customer service and lack of any food available. Upon leaving I asked 3 female staff who were all stood together - if I could have the name of the male. I was told no. I asked for the manager they didn’t give me that name either but did agree to give me an email where I can express my feelings too.
I’m incredibly sad because this was our favourite place to take our children and eat out. But the lack of empathy, service and communication has made us not...
Read moreXmas Dinner for 9 of us.... 2 starters eventually came after 30 mins but no others. After 45mins we asked for the remaining 7 and they apologised saying they lost the order. After reminding them of the order the starters eventually came. After we finished the starters we waited but no service so had to clear our own table and ask for our main course which they had also forgotten. After reminding the staff again of our order that took 30 mins to come (for the veggie option). After the main course our table was cleared after about 20 mins and we had to ask for the desert.....which they had forgotten. By this time we wanted to go home but for 60 pound a head we stayed for our fourth course which was tea and coffee. But we had to ask about the tea and coffee which was self service. The starter was basically heinz soup. The turkey dinner was good to be fair. The dessert was just a big chunk of dry cake. This is the first time we've been out for Xmas lunch and we thought it would be nice for the family not to cook. But I wish we did. it was more stressful eating at Robins farm than at home. I'm surprised they didn't ask us to wash our plates up. For 60 pound a head I think it was terrible I'm afraid to say. The assistant manager refused any refund or even discuss the possibility. We've been to Robins farm once before with no issues but we will not be returning after...
