First time I have tried this place since it moved to the current location. Much easier for a wheelchair than the old place was.
I went in for breakfast. Now I now we all like things differently but... I wish I had taken a picture but I struggle with one hand and didn't want to draw attention to myself.
The menu was quite fun with a five piece breakfast or an eight piece breakfast and a list of items to choose from. I started my order with two eggs. There seems to be a presumption that all eggs will be fried; so old fashioned it was quite endearing. Not so endearing was that the final product was solid. Is that really how folks want their breakfast eggs? I prefer mine poached and with runny yolks but hey I got solid fried ones.
There were a couple of soggy bits of bacon, very dark yet tasteless sausages, black pudding and tomatoes. The bacon did taste like bacon at least but it had an awful texture. The black pudding was cooked to the point where as I put a fork in it crumbled away. The tomatoes which stupidly I had imagined would be tomato were actually canned very finely chopped tomatoes. They were straight out the can and tasted it - they really needed a sprinkle of sugar to take the bitterness away.
I had a pot of tea with my brekkie which was at least diversionary entertainment. The pots were the type you used to get at Motorway service stations. It doesn't matter how carefully you pour the tea it goes everywhere.
The saving grace for the place was the accessibility. Just enough to lift it from two to three stars. I won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAttended today with my family. I order hot beef sandwich with chips and side salad. When it arrived at the table there was no side salad and the sandwich was soaked in gravy. This wasnāt how it was as in the menu. When asked that isnāt what I ordered I donāt like gravy and my side salad was missing I was told by a waitress yes that is correct I will go ask about it for you. Very kind waiter. To then be told by the manager thatās how it is when I asked that isnāt how it is on the menu the snobby lady told me well thereās a lot of things that aināt how they are wrote. Well why have a menu to order from then give me something I didnāt order and charge me Ā£6.50 for the pleasure. Had to leave before I did something stupid. Shocking customer service . And after going once a week since it opened a wonāt be attending that place again. Avoid if u want...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat food and very good prices. Home cooked food cafe. The only real downfall is they just can't serve quick enough. It's great it's busy but I think a better flow could be thought of. It seemed to be the making of drinks before paying for your meal. Frustrating for those not wanting a hot drink to have to wait so long in a queue. We queued for at least 15 minutes. While we were eating out meal we sat near the door and counted at least 10 people leave. I can only imagine they didn't have the time to wait in the queue. Maybe an urn or a coffee machine for customers to make their own. Pay at the till for what they want and receive a cup/mug to make their own. Would save time and allow the service of more customers. Overall good experience and we...
