I enjoyed this takeawa - mostly. The onion bhajis are phenomenal! They’re impressively large, wonderfully chunky, crispy on the outside, lush on the inside and deliver a beautifully balanced flavour. Unlike many others, they're not overly greasy, and the spices and texture truly shine. Each bite is a testament to how a proper bhaji should taste – utterly delicious. The mint sauce is equally delightful – fresh, creamy, and minty, complementing the starters perfectly. A let down was the chops. While the marinades on the chops were exceptional – rich, authentic, and packed with depth – the execution fell short. Sadly, they were overcooked, leaving them tough and slightly chewy, which was a shame. The popadoms were perfectly crisp, and the garlic chilli chicken bursts with flavour, with just the right level of heat, and it was well cooked, so the chicken wasn't overly dry. The peshwari naan was another highlight, beautifully sweet with a lovely, soft texture. Reasonable prices. I would try them again, but wouldn't reorder the chops.

Stopped here on the way through to my next job for a quick pitstop and enjoyed it. The food came out quick and it was nice, The only complaint was my jalfrezi was a little runny and not spicy 🔥 enough for me. Everything was really nice though and the atmosphere was good. Nice clean toilets and I liked the decor.

Oh my days. Where to begin! The food was out of this world, the staff were super friendly and very accomodating, the prices we're very budget friendly and the decor is gorgeous. I'll be coming back again that's for sure! 10/10

Absolutely superb restaurant in central Darlington, went there with my girlfriend after a visit to York on Saturday night and it was amazing. I lived in Berkshire for 20-odd years and often went with friends to Southall in neighbouring Middlesex, I really miss those times as I've never found a truly authentic place since. add that to my India/Nepal motorbike travels of 30 years ago and you get the picture! Until now! How to start.... instant service by impeccably dressed and mannered hosts, range of food and beverages beyond expectations, swift service, and then the quality.... dishes served in stainless tureens, just enough if not a bit too much! We skipped starters, just had poppadoms with dips, a main each, shared rice and bread, and left after a couple of well-kept Kingfishers wanting more but too full! Congratulations to the new owners, it was recommended by a barber I went who hadn't been but had heard good things. I'd go back to Darlington just for this place! 15/10 score. And I'm...

If you think Bradford is the only city with excellent curry houses - think again! I've recently ordered on-the-bone chicken curry --the thighs & drumsticks are the tastiest part of the chicken - not the breast! ..Anyway, I like my curries with more garlic, less tomatoes and onions, so that the real curry flavour combined with the various condiments & spices gives a real, authentic, delicious flavour. So I requested such a curry - yes custom-made for me - and Star of Bengal DID NOT disappoint!.. In fact, it was one of the best hot spicy Tandoories I have had in a long time! From this point on - it's on-the-bone chicken for me! Loved the Chapatis as well - just wished they were larger and fluffier, but all in all - I was super satisfied! Will definitely continue to patronise Star of...
