We booked in for Saturday evening some time ago based on the reviews here. It looked like the best place to eat in Coniston. We were greeeted by the owner and given our choice of table. The place is relaxed and tastefully decorated. The locals obviously love it as he greated many returning customers. We were a little surprised when it took over an hour and a half to get our starter. The owner explained later in the evening that he had staffing problems. There were just 3 of them coping with a full restaurant! To their absolute credit, the food did not suffer. I had the lamb kleftico, which I have had many times in Greece. Never have I had one so good. Words could not do it justice. You can take your own wine, which is charged at £3 per head and pleasingly, they bring water for the table without asking. I tried to book again for Thursday and was genuinely gutted to find it wasn't open. I hope he gets the staffing issue sorted and continues to be a roaring success. The 3 people tonight have worked their socks off !
