Disappointing Experience – Won’t Be Returning
I visited this place today with my daughter for a casual lunch, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish.
As it was our first time there, we approached the counter to ask if it was okay to sit anywhere, since some of the tables already had things on them and it wasn’t clear what the system was. Despite the staff clearly seeing us standing there, we were completely ignored—no greeting, no acknowledgment, nothing. It felt as though we were invisible, which was not a great first impression.
The cleanliness left much to be desired. There was a dead fly on our table, which obviously hadn’t been wiped properly. This added to an overall feeling that the space wasn’t being well maintained.
The attitude of the staff was, quite frankly, rude. It felt like we were an inconvenience just for being there. One of the waitresses even flung the cutlery into the container in a careless manner, reinforcing the sense that customer service just wasn’t a priority.
On top of that, the wait times were excessive. Our smoothies took 30 minutes to arrive, and our pancakes came 45 minutes after ordering—this was despite the café not being anywhere near full capacity.
To make matters worse, the prices charged do not reflect the quality of the food or the service. For what we paid, we expected a much better overall experience, both in terms of food quality and hospitality.
All in all, it was an uncomfortable experience. We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. Unfortunately, we won’t...
Read moreThis is a vegan cafe, but certainly not a cafe just for vegans. If you're a non-vegan, you really don't feel like you're missing out when you eat here. The menu consists of a selection of smoothie bowls, pancake stacks, loaded porridges and a few more savoury options. The menu changes to reflect seasonality.
We have visited a couple of times now and the food has been amazing. I particularly love the posh beans on toast and the pancake stacks are epic! On our first visit, my son only managed half of his giant stack but we were able to get a box to take the rest home to enjoy for breakfast. On our second visit I asked if a smaller portion was available, and they offered a 'baby' portion. This was a much more manageable size for a child. The hot drinks come with oat milk as standard, but there's an option for swap for other non-dairy milks.
Both times we have visited, it has been in the lunch rush, and all the tables have been full. Despite this, the staff were friendly, service was swift (we were in and out in under an hour both times), and the food was tasty and well presented.
It is a place well worth a visit, especially if you have a...
Read moreI don't normally give review comments but thought I should. Today it was my first time been to Sunday in Guisborough. I'm allergic to bananas and mangoes. They had the special on for the smoothie bowl and it's tropical which obviously contains mangoes. So I decided to go for the other option i.e. acai. However, when my bowl came, the base looked exactly the same as my daughter's and she ordered tropical base. I queried it straight away and found out that they ran out of acai so decided to give me tropical without consulting me. Then, they told me the acai has bananas in anyway. I was so shocked that there's no where mentioning the ingredients of acai. Despite the level of seriousness, they didn't apologise or even offer me a refund. Instead, they asked me to choose something else from the menu. When I asked what else I could have, they looked at me blankly. I ended up having pancakes. I had to ask them twice for glasses for water. I also felt for what they offer is absolutely overpriced. I'm definitely...
