So me and my family came for a meal for my grandads 80th. Not the most welcoming people either, maybe a bad day I don't know. Me, mum and my sister are gluten free. My sister is a celiac and cannot have any food prepared in the same area as normal food. They said that the food is gluten free (off the non gluten menu). Food came out, presentation wasn't the greatest and most of our food was dry and the meat on some of the meals were tough to eat. My sister and me had the gluten free steak and cheese sandwich which wasn't the greatest. After eating the food and leaving my sister started complaining of feeling sick. After an hour she's been ill and will be the remaining of the day if not longer. As she is a celiac and me and mum are not just intolerant my sister has it far worse than we do. I'm not happy at all as this can put my sister in hospital if she's ill too many times from Wheat. If you say your food is gluten free then MAKE sure that it is cooked in separate cookers, MAKE sure it is prepared away from other food and MAKE sure you wash hands constantly. Not very happy as being a celiac can be very dangerous for my sister. Maybe learn on this experience for other celiac people. Also if you say that it can't be "guaranteed" then don't have gluten free stuff on the menu. Until you are a celiac or have a celiac in your family then do not take it lightly. It is a serious autoamune disease and can put people in hospital my sister included. So why have a flimsy excuse of "we cannot guarantee it". It's not good enough. Either can and safely or you cant end of. So if you are a celiac or gluten intolerant I would not recommend...
Read moreThe restaurant and bar were, tidy, clean and welcoming but overall the food was poor and unsatisfactory. My wife had a chicken sandwich which was served as a whole chicken breast just slapped in some bread, not sliced, it also appeared to be a poor quality frozen chicken that was deep fried so it was oozing with oil. We complained to the manager who was pleasant but tried to make excuses, he offered us our money back but as it was part of a deal and we were still charged individually for the chips and drink it took less than £2 off the bill. My daughter had a pizza which seemed to be a Chicago town pizza, not a problem but it appeared to be cooked under a grill, the top was nicely browned but underneath was pale as anything and certainly undercooked. Honestly the chef shouldn't be in a job if they can't even cook a premade pizza properly, they were with incompetent or just didn't care, either way management should be addressing this through training or performance management. This isn't the first bad experience I've had at a greene king establishment so we will certainly give up on this chain. We left and went to tesco to get my wife and...
Read moreArrived this afternoon to find an empty pub restaurant area apart from one family eating. Front staff huffed and puffed at seating two people in an empty room at 1500. Kids menu not on the app which was frustrating. Ordered meal at the bar at 1507. Starters arrived at 1600. Eventually the main course arrived at 1645. We were the only people eating. Kids meal arrived on a red hot plate with a red hot bowl on it containing red hot pasta which was placed directly in front of our 17 month old baby. No consideration given about him getting burned. Our food to be fair was excellent. We checked all the empty tables around us and they were all reserved for groups after 1700 up to 1900. Apparently accommadating us was a major issue in an empty restaurant. We would have liked to have been there less than a hour, this was lunch after all, and if we had been served promptly then the staff would have had an hour between us leaving and the first group arriving. We won't be back. And pubs wonder why they are going out of business. Perhaps welcoming paying customers and treating them...
